Havin' a bad day... I don't what it is, but I'm feelin' a lot down today... :/ You know the feeling that you see all of these poeple, laughing, having fun, know each other well..? That's kind of how I feel when I'm here on the DP Spot... :/ Maybe it's because I'm not so much on here as I'm most @ the Walt Disney Characters Spot. I would love it too, but with the two Disney movies about siblings (Frozen and Big Hero 6), it might seem a little bit too much to have another one with a brother-sister relationship. Yesterday I watched The Croods fot the second time and while I used to like it before, now I absolutely love it! First of all, the animation is amazing. The backgrounds are filled with strange and colorful creatures and it's all so impressive! But what I love most is the characters. I love how we have a heroine who's not beautiful, at least in a conventional way (I actually find her quite pretty and I love her eyes), who has a realistic, not idealized body (continues in comments) Posted over a year ago

(actually, in a moment of the movie Guy told her "Wow you're heavy!" and she answered "Really? Thank you!" )and who's way physically stronger than the guy. Eep is rebellious and badass, but without being the cliche tomboy (she's actually very girly) or a brat. Her relationship with Guy is adorable and for once it's the guy who teaches the girl a valuable lesson and not the opposite like usual. Grug is also an awesome character. You could see how much he loved his family and his development was very realistic. In general, I loved the relationships between all the members of the family (and Guy) and I found their interactions either very touching and sweet or hilarious (especially when it came to Grug the grandmother). I don't see people mentioning that movie a lot, in real life but also in fanpop, so I was wondering if the users here generally like it or if I'm in the minority. over a year ago

Okay, so I got back from watching Mockingjay and it's the best Hunger Games film so far. The first film I thought was just okay and found predictable, Catching Fire is when I finally started getting into the franchise and found it fantastic, and this movie is the best in the franchise. This is the first time EVER that I've finally become absolutely invested in Katniss and find her interesting. In the original she's dull at dirt with the personality of sandpaper, in Catching Fire I did start to mildly like her but still found her boring, and in this movie I love her! I'm not insane about her but I'm finally fully invested in her. She's flawed, makes mistakes, will address her mistakes when everyone is trying to make her seem perfect, is one of the most badass fictional characters EVER, has some good one-liners, and I'd even go so far as to call her complex. I also love how, unlike with Harry Potter, she's not just put into the savior role just because the story says so and because of something to make her seem like Jesus or something. She's made the savior because she has the qualities of a leader and is what a savior should be. Jennifer Lawrence also gives an astounding performance, the best actor in the movie. over a year ago

I just got back from watching Big Hero 6 for a second time and it was still great. I do think the humor isn't very strong and I didn't laugh very much or hard like everyone else did. The characters, except the villain, Fred, and a certain character that I won't reveal because I might "spoil" something, are really likable. My favorite is still Hiro, but I still think there isn't a point in having him wear a super-suit because he doesn't fight at all! *continues to type in comments* Posted over a year ago

The other characters fight and he doesn't! He's the brains of the team but that's it. There's no point in him having his own outfit because he doesn't have any way of fighting. What's the point? The the animation is fantastic, the emotions is incredible, and it's a fun adventure. But I think I might like it SLIGHTLY less then I originally did. But it's still better than Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen, but not better than Tangled and The Princess and The Frog. Tonight I'll always be seeing the newest Hunger Games movie, Mocking-jay Part 1. I'll let you guys know how that it and I have high expectations. over a year ago

Well, just like I stated before, I watched The Rescuers Down Under and it's truly an underrated classic. It surpasses the original in every way possible. The animation is fantastic (although I should probably get the DVD because I only have the VHS), the characters are likable, the score is epic, the action scenes are awesome, the villain is pretty cool, and it's a fantastic and suspenseful adventure. Now that doesn't mean that it doesn't have it's problems *continues to type in comments* Posted over a year ago

KataraLover commented…
Unfortunately, while I like the characters, I don't think they're particularly memorable. Also, while it's a minor scene, I really wish that when the ranger went to Cody's house to tell his mother that he was presumed dead that we could have seen the mother's face. I think it could have been something really emotional like with Rapunzel's parents. There would be no works out of her in that scene but the very look at her facial expressions would make it really powerful and emotional. I also wish that we could have known what happens to the animals that the villain had locked up. I guess maybe the movie is slightly unfocused because you go between the Bernard and Bianca, Cody, McLeach, and Wilbur. But I don't think that the mice didn't get enough screentime like so many people do. I think they get a decent amount. The climax was suspenseful! Even though I know what happens, I keep on getting scared about what happens to that poor little boy. over a year ago

And here is yet another one of KataraLover's movie reviews. I just finished Tarzan and it was brilliant as always! The animation is gorgeous, the characters are great, the songs are fantastic, Tarzan and Jane have a believable chemistry, it has some awesome action scenes, and it has some tear-jerking emotional scenes. I agree with Doug Walker, Jane is what I call a perfect example of a damsel in distress done right. *continues to type in comments* Posted over a year ago
KataraLover commented…
Not every character, whether male or female, can be waving a sword or being badass, but they have to be interesting. And Jane is interesting; she's intelligent, quirky, kind, funny, witty, awkward, clumsy, caring, and elegant. Tarzan is my favorite character in the movie. I love the turmoil of his character and he's kind of complex. He doesn't know what he is, man or ape. Should the movie have given more depth into that turmoil like Doug said? Well, probably but I think they did a good job with it. I do agree with Doug that Clayton is a lame villain, he's basically Gaston's even lamer uncle, except with brains. Why couldn't the leopard have been the villain? Like an awesome Shere Khan villain, that would have been awesome and maybe we would have had more time to go into more depth of Tarzan's turmoil and developed Tarzan and Jane's romance. The romance is good but nothing spectacular because it's kind of rushed. But overall, it's a phenomenal film! over a year ago

I completely agree with _CatWoman_ and MalloMar. And people should really give an excuse at Jane for being a damsel in distress, if YOU had to live in a jungle, how would you act? Because I'm sure I wouldn't be very heroic... Anyway, Jane like everybody said is a damsel in distress done right and one of my favorite animated females. Tarzan is an amazing character, I actually love the romance in the movie and I adore Phil Collins' songs. Also, I really like Clayton for the reasons CatWoman stated. Tarzan is overall a fantastic film in my opinion, one of my Disney favorites. over a year ago

So I was watching Sleeping Beauty again (still a wonderful movie by the way) and I realized just how creepy Philip acts during Once Upon a Dream. Maybe it's just me, because I like to get to know someone for a bit before I let them casually touch me, but he way he kept on grabbing her arm and hand after she pulled away really creeped me out. I mean his charming and all that, but does he have to be so intrusive? Posted over a year ago

I don't like the way he grabs her either, but I think that's just him being awkward. At least he relents and lets go of her when he see that she doesn't like the foreceful contact, instead choosing to serenade her with a love song. over a year ago

Yeah... it's way different seeing it as an adult from seeing it as a child. Especially if you're a girl with personal space issues, or know what really happens to girls who are grabbed by a man they don't know when they're alone in the forest in real life. Today I watched an underrated Disney classic, A GOOFY MOVIE! It was absolutely amazing, as always! The animation is really good, the characters are likable, the songs are fantastic, Max and Roxanne have a believable chemistry, and it's a fun road trip. It could have been longer but oh well. The best part of the film is the relationship between Goofy and Max. It's really realistic; Max wants to live his own life but Goofy also wants to be a part of his child's life *continues to type in comments* Posted over a year ago
KataraLover commented…
I love how for once it's the child who had to learn the lesson and not the parent. You could argue that Goofy does learn a lesson but it's mainly Max who has to learn the lesson. It's very unique and refreshing to see. I love how there are some of these awkwardly quiet moments between them where they want to say something to each other but they're too awkward around each other to say it, much like Merida and Elinor in that one scene in Brave. I love how they can go from arguing, to awkward moment, to bonding, to fighting again, and to finally bending their bond. That's how a real parent and child relationship works! I love how they saved each other in the waterfall scene and when they finally hug each other and were to tears because they almost lost each other. It's a brilliant film and among my favorite Disney movies! I HIGHLY recommend it! Plus it's HILARIOUS! over a year ago

I'll usually like anything that has a really good soundtrack, well, almost anything (i.e. Frozen). I love all the songs, well, almost all of them. Don't Make Me Laugh, I like it; Misery is okay; and I really dislike Looks Like I've Got Myself A Friend. The rest I absolutely love, even if they don't transition very well. The animation is very pretty to look at, even if it is sloppy sometimes. Rocko, Marina, and the little birds are pretty likable. The rest of the characters I don't care about at all. I have to agree with Tygers_Eye that Hubbie is pretty shallow because he really only loves Marina for her looks. We see why she loves him because of the song Sometimes I Wonder, but we don't see why he loves her besides her looks. I mean, I have nothing against Marina, I like her, but we don't see Hubbie get to know her at all. Plus, Hubbie is really stupid and a real dumbass in distress! over a year ago
KataraLover commented…
He's not as much of a dumbass in distress for me to put him in my top 10 biggest dumbasses in distress, but he really has to get saved constantly and only has one scene where he acts heroic. The rest of the time he has to be saved by Rocko. It's kind of too childish, which I'm critical about in kids films because I've been spoiled by Disney, which has always been able to appeal to kids and adults. So overall, not a bad film but not something I'd tell someone they'd have to see. over a year ago

I don't care if it's different from a typical Disney movie. I'm very open-minded about that but the thing is that it's not the things that you stated they are, no offense. It's forgettable, the characters and story are cliches, boring, and forgettable. The characters are FAR from original. You've got the dork that makes something of himself, the b*tchy tough girl that's rude to the protagonist but then falls for him and becomes the bland and unnecessary love interest (two cliche's in one character), the closed-minded parent that gets his redemption (even though he's too despicable for me to actually care), the arguing twins, the idiot that acts tough but is really a whimp and tries to flirt with the leading lady, and the one character that's a bigger dork than the main character and is supposed to be comic relief despite not being funny. That's just that character cliche's, there are several others. over a year ago
KataraLover commented…
Cliche's can work in a story but they put TONS of them and make it unoriginal, predictable, forgettable, boring, and basically what we've all seen before. The sequel is a great movie, though not nearly as great as Rise of The Guardians, The Prince of Egypt, the first two Shrek movies, and so forth. Astrid and the dad do improve as a characters in the sequel, Toothless becomes more charming, and the new characters are all likable. But the rest of the characters are annoying as always. over a year ago

Him and Jack really get a lot of criticism as flat characters but I don't see that at all. Pitch is a phenomenal villain! The way he plans everything without making any mistakes is something you don't see much with villains. Plus the way he can get inside the good guys heads to cause them to be afraid of what might happen and end up doubting and beating themselves up is just AWESOME! He's just a fantastic villain and I don't get why he gets criticism! Jack is my favorite character in the movie and he is FAR from flat! He is phenomenally well-written and developed! I love him so much that he might even take Ariel and Melody's place as my favorite fictional character. You heard right! I don't know why this villain isn't more popular, especially compared to something as mediocre, predictable, cliche, boring, and forgettable as How To Train Your Dragon, which has A TON of flaws. This movie is a movie where I don't see ANY flaws *continues to type in comments* over a year ago

I'm not just saying that because I love it, I really mean it. I mean, I don't really like The Avengers but it's a film where I don't see any flaws in it at all. It's just not my cup of tea. I guess maybe that's why people don't care much for this movie but I don't know. In my opinion, it deserved to win best animated picture in 2012, not Wreck-It Ralph and especially not Brave, both are good movies though. This movie actually seemed more Disney than the other two did. I could go on about how much I love this movie but I won't. Anyway, it's a brilliant and timeless movie that deserves more love. over a year ago

I recalled Jack, North, Sandy, and Bunny being major badasses but I can't recall Tooth, the only female of the group, doing any fighting. Does she do any fighting in the movie? It's one of my favorite movies and I can't recall one time when she was fighting or doing anything badass, except for when she knocks Pitch's tooth out. You'd think they'd make the only female of the group, who I do love, seem as memorably badass as the others but they really don't. I can't remember her really fighting or being badass at all. over a year ago

Toothiana does fight, but it's always in the background (never the foreground) and she moves so freaking fast that it's almost literally "blink and you miss it." She basically blasts forward like a cork out of a bottle and spins with her rapier in front of her, and literally drills through nightmare after nightmare in rapid succession like a spinning bullet. I literally didn't notice until I watched the director's commentary and they mentioned Tootiana fighting like a badass (kinda laughing that she's this sweet, motherly character, but she is brutal in battle), and I thought, "Wait, she's fighting in these scenes??!!" Then I watched again and focused on the background, and there she was. I recommend watching it again, but this time keep an eye out for her. over a year ago

I know it has flaws but I honestly think it doesn't have as many flaws as people say it does. I think it's flaws are just the same amount of flaws that any animated movie has. The thing is that it's just criticized more because it's a Non-Disney movie that has a Disney style. *continues to type in comments* Posted over a year ago

I guess we have to have Wreck-It Ralph for being like Pixar instead of a Disney film. It doesn't matter that it was ground breaking and brilliant! It was trying to be Pixar and must be hated for it! Am I saying that Quest For Camelot is groundbreaking? No, not really. But I don't think it has as many flaws as something like Frozen or Hercules (I do like Hercules though). Could it have been stronger and better? Yeah, but that doesn't make it bad. So...living in a country far, far way from the USA, I'm absolutely delighted that I eventually had the chance to see a Broadway play! And it was Beauty and the Beast in its very first international tour! I'm so happy, I can now have an opinion on a Broadway Disney play! The show was spectacular, really stunning and I was impressed by the professionalism and the huge effort of the actors. The scenes and the costumes were simply gorgeous. Belle's and Gaston's voices were great. Posted over a year ago

The Broadways song versions were as good as the original, though I can't say the same about the added songs and scenes, which were not that interesting. Something that I didn't like, if any, was the acting. It was plainly average I'm afraid and I didn't like that fact that the Beast was more a comic relief than the tragic hero. My favourite was definitely Lumiere, he was so enjoyable to watch! My favourite scenes were the Gaston song, Be Our Guest and especially Beast's transformation. As a whole, it was one of the best best best shows I 've seen, but the acting and the extra scenes disappointed me a little. over a year ago

Many people think Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty are films for little girls, and I think that is a travesty. I kind of did too, but now that I'm older I see it differently. I wouldn't really call the blue man "more cowardly," I'd say he was more prudent. Mouthing off to the (presumably) most powerful known warlord who's been burning and pillaging through your entire country in front of his whole army is just asking to get offed. I now find it suicidally idiotic, not admirably brave. Plus, I would feel terrible if the guy who was smart enough keep quiet got killed because his friend decided to mouth off. But, I guess we'll never know for sure who got killed and for what character flaw according to the Huns, which makes the scene that much more chilling imo. over a year ago
