I’m watching the Lady bent the Tramp remake on Disney+ and I just have to say so far I’m loving it. It’s got a diverse cast, the only cgi I’ve seen is just when the animals talk, there’s no line-for-line copy from the original’s script like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, and the dogs act a bit more like dogs compared to the original. I love the original so I’m really happy I’m loving the remake so far
Posted over a year ago
The cats are cgi’d a bit for their musical number (which was changed) and there are some decent changes to the story, like there’s no dog fight which makes sense because real dogs are used for this movie. I’ll give more updates when I’m done since I’m only halfway through!over a year ago
Okay I just finished and I LOVED IT. So there is quite a bit of cgi for some parts like the pound scene and the part when Tramp is fighting the rat, there are good changes but then there are some changes that aren’t that great but aren’t the worst thing to happen in the movie, Jim Dear and Darling have more screen time and personality, Tramp has more of a backstory, and Lady does a bit more in this movie. I loved Lady in the original, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that in the remake she stands up for herself a little more especially when Tramp belittles her at the beginning. The cgi on the dogs’ faces are a little off-putting but like I said real dogs were used so it’s not 100% cgi like The Lion King or The Jungle Book. This movie is definitely in my top 3 remakes from animated movies, with The Jungle Book and Cinderellaover a year ago

Now that Disney+ has finally launched I’m finally able to continue my rewatch for the disney movies! I have the rest of the Disney Princess movies on DVD/bluray but I didn’t want to keep this going without having the sequels on hand. I am still planning to do videos on YouTube about them but that’s going to wait until after New Years because I’m planning to use digital drawings for the vids like Alex Meyers on YouTube

Can't, it won't drop over here before early next year. And then I might actually wait a little bit until the kinks are evened out (and I know how much there will be on our version of it). I've been considering starting a youtube channel where I do videos of me reviewing Disney moves, kinda like what I've been doing here with my articles. It wouldn't be anything fancy, I wouldn't be using special effects or clips from the movies (mostly because I don't have the editing software for it) but I'd have an easier time talking about my thoughts on these movies than I do when I'm writing the articles (I feel like I've been saying the same stuff a lot)

Lindsay Ellis, one of our most polarizing figures in the Disney fandom, released a video called "Woke Disney" on Youtube. And again, while I don't 100% agree with everything she said, she pretty much hit the nail on the head about modern Disney and the meta woke remakes. It's still mindblowing that at this point people from all "sides" of the political social spectrum whatever you wanna call are getting sick of this crap. Link to vide9 here: link
Posted over a year ago
SJWs find the wokeness misguided and pretentious, anti-SJWS just find it plain annoying, all the regular people in between just think these movies are white noise to pass the time with some nostalgic memories at best, stupid and unnecessary films at worst. Even critics are starting to get sick of this crap. (Check the Rotten Tomatoes scores of the Aladdin and Lion King remakes)over a year ago
I saw it yesterday but didn’t know if it was going to be worth watching because of some stuff she’s said in the past. I watched Nostalgia Critic’s video of why remakes make so much money and he brought up some good points on how it’s possible that these movies are getting any kind of attention, especially from people who say they’re done with remakes. This guy is totally done with remakes too (look at his face in his “Doug watches...” videos)over a year ago
I just saw the new trailer for Frozen II and Elsa's song! There's a little bit of Let it Go similarity in it^^ probably not as powerful as Let it Go was but it was a very short part of the song,so who knows. Can't wait to see the movie! :))
Posted over a year ago
As much as I love the song Speechless I think they could have used it better in the movie. When I saw some of the sneak clips for it I was thinking that the guards were Jafar's creation (hence why they dusted) and Jasmine was going to stand up Jafar and be pretty much like Jasmine in the original where she took no shit but then watching the movie and then finding out it was all in her head...yeah that was a huge letdown
Posted over a year ago
Same! I felt let down by the scene. I still like it because it's an amazing song, Naomi has a great voice, and her acting was wonderful. But yeah, the scene was a major letdown.over a year ago
When I watched Nostalgia Critic he said it would have been so much better if she grabbed a sword and fought while singing. That would have been cool too because it wouldn’t be 100% out of character since we do see Jasmine punch people in King of Thievesover a year ago
I re-watched Aladdin 2019 after seeing it twice at the cinema in May. Genie isn't as funny, energetic or compassionate as the original genie. Robin Williams' Genie is the best! A few scenes were rushed. The only things I like about the new Jafar is his backstory and his costumes. I think Genie has the best costume when he's at the palace as a human servant. I like a few of Jasmine's costumes but the top half is perhaps too heavily beaded and sequinned.
Posted over a year ago
I can't imagine original Jasmine being comfortable in an elaborate outfit. She would hate it. Naomi Scott is very pretty but she's not my Jasmine. It's the nose and the lack of volume in the hair that is wrong. I can't stand Jafar as a genie in this version! Original Jafar as a genie was demonic. It made sense because he was evil. New Jafar looks too human-like.over a year ago
I appreciated Iago this time around but it made Jafar look less smart than he's supposed to be. Because he's listening to bird the whole time. Who is hinting what he should do and making observations throughout the whole film! I thought the weakest scenes were the two scenes outside the cave of wonders, inside the cave and in the desert after Genie has saved him. I do like the grey area explanation of the wish through. Genie was only funny in two scenes - Jams and Jewels, and Genie likes to Party scenes! Prince Ali is inspired by Bollywood apparently. Maybe in colour. But the only familiar looking classic Bollywood moves were in the encore scene of the Friend like Me Reprise during the wedding party.over a year ago
Aladdin doesn't look angry or hurt when the guard insults him. It was done better in the original, more emotion in his face. Aladdin and Jasmine's introduction was too short. A Whole New World doesn't make sense on a visual level. The original was better. I prefer Abu in the remake, the original Abu annoyed me. Lastly I was disappointed with the behind the scenes special features. I was hoping they would talk about the original movie more (than just talking about Robin Williams) and explaining the changes for the remake. But I guess they covered everything in the interviews? But my question still hasn't been answered yet. What was the reason behind the Cave of Wonders head, it was a tiger's head originally - why change it to a Lion's head?over a year ago
The deleted scenes shouldn't have been deleted from the final movie. Aladdin and Jasmine's first scene together would have been better. Everything else I liked. I think Jasmine's personality and wants fit in well with the tv series. She cares for her people, goes on diplomatic missions, etc. Making her ambitious was a good thing. A Princess who wants to become Sultan makes perfect sense in the respect of her character development in the TV series and Peacock Princess.over a year ago
I liked Jasmine's new aqua outfit with the peacock feathers, her very indian styled colourful hair veils, her golden-overall dress and her purple outfit during Speechless part 2.over a year ago
The worst new costumes of Jasmine's in my opinion are the pink overall dress and the purple and orange dress when she's waiting at the fountain.over a year ago
I like the design of the purple and orange dress. It suits her. It just the shades of colours used. They clash. They definitely do not go together.over a year ago
Nothing will replace Original Jasmine's Wedding Dress from The King of Thieves. The remake version doesn't have the elegance or wow-factor that I felt when saw the original one for the first time. Plus they don't give enough time or space to appreciate the new one without a crowd of people around her.over a year ago
The title Sultan bothered me a bit though. Sultan is the Arabian masculine title for a King. Sultana is the Arabian feminine title for a Queen. The movie got that part wrong. Sultan is not a unisex title.over a year ago
So ya girl FINALLY saw the new Aladdin. I thought it was middle of the road as far the as the remakes go. I actually liked it more than the original, but that's just because I'm not a huge Aladdin fan. Everyone has talked about how Jafar was a miscast, so I won't go into that because enough has been said. Mena Massoud was an ok Aladdin, but I didn't think his acting was all that great. He just didn't deliver the character very naturally, and I felt like I could tell he was acting the whole time.
Posted over a year ago
Overall I really liked what they did with Jasmine's character, and I thought Naomi Scott did a good job. I appreciated that there was more of a focus on Jasmine as a character and I LOVED that she had the goal of becoming sultan. That made her infinitely more interesting to me. I especially liked that she went to the market to learn more about her people rather than just to escape the palace. I did, however, miss her sassy side. It's the main thing I like about the animated version of her so I was sad to see that cut.over a year ago
Will Smith made a valiant effort as genie, and I actually thought he did a really good job with what he was given, but the character still felt like it was written for Robin Williams, so I blame the writers for any failings on Smith's part. The character needed to be completely rewritten specifically for Will Smith's style of humor for it to work, and unfortunately they didn't do that. I still thought the movie was funny though, especially the jams joke haha.over a year ago
The music was pretty good overall and retained the feeling of the original film. Also, I loved the addition of "Speechless", since it always bothered me that Jasmine didn't have a solo song. Honestly my biggest gripe with the movie, besides Mena Massoud's acting, was actually the costumes. The designs were cool but the fabrics looked cheap to me and it just kind of ruined the whole aesthetic...over a year ago
My other issue with the film was its pacing. It felt really rushed at times. I was so surprised when Jasmine was introduced immediately, and that initial interaction between her and Aladdin just didn't work as well as the animated version. I liked that Aladdin decided to tell the truth of his own volition, but him coming to that decision also felt really rushed.over a year ago
I feel like some stuff was rushed while some stuff kinda dragged on but that’s probably because the scenes that dragged on for me were the ones I didn’t like. I don’t think this is one of the best remakes but I thought it was still enjoyable enough if you’re not thinking too much about some things and just sitting back and enjoying it. Personally I wasn’t a fan of the jams bit :p I’m glad you liked the movie!over a year ago

I’ve been considering watching Dumbo but I’m hearing a lot of hate for it but I haven’t heard WHY people hate it. So for the people who have seen it why don’t you like it? Is it because it’s different from the original, is the acting bad, special effects worse than the acting? Because if it's different from the original I don't mind it, it's why I love The Jungle Book and Cinderella remakes and why I don't like the Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King remakes
Posted over a year ago
The writing is really messy and lazy, there's little focus on Dumbo, the characters had potential but were really poorly written, it's pretty unrecognizable as Dumbo, tried too hard to be ahead of its time, the two child actors gave terrible performances (But it might not be their fault because the characters are just so terribly written that they are given ZERO material to work with), and the directing is really clunky. The movie is pretty stupid but I say judge for yourself.over a year ago
Sorry for just plopping in after being inactive for months, but I have to say, Dumbo felt like fan fiction/alternate storyline. The characters weren’t memorable and it was VERY predictable. I tried to enjoy it, I really did. I did think Dumbo was cute, and while the scene doesn’t come close to the original, Baby Mine was sung nicely. You can judge for yourself, of course!over a year ago

Oh, hon, same here! I had a family reunion a few months ago. I was on the fence whether I should go, but I’d see the plans on Facebook for it and I decided I didn’t want to miss out. Also my cousin who lives near me begged me to go. I’m somewhat close to her, so I figured I’d spend most time with her, while reconnecting with my other relatives. Once I got down there though, it was different. My cousin would spend more time with others (in ways I couldn’t join them, in their hotel rooms for example.) The first day went well, but after that, I had trouble connecting with anyone, and missed my actual friends/home so much. I was angry at myself because I thought I’ve developed better social skills since the last reunion. No ones going to read this, but it feels good letting it out, so thanks for this. Something else I’d like to say; on Tuesday I’m planning to finally do my Moana rewatch article and there’s something I need to get off my chest. There’s two reasons why I haven’t done the article yet.
Posted over a year ago
1. The last time I watched this movie was on the worst day of my life so it’s going to be hard watching it again. 2. There’s some scenes I feel emotional watching that others don’t. Everyone has different opinions but I just want to ask those people to PLEASE NOT make any comments like “I don’t get how anyone can feel sad at that part” or “I don’t like these characters enough to feel sad“ You can literally do that anywhere else, please don’t do it on my article when I bring up some stuff okay?over a year ago
^IF this was directed at me... I'm just going to say the following. I don't feel the need to post anything under your article, and I won't attack you for your feelings. I finally watched the Aladdin(2019) movie and oh my, it was so bad on so many levels imo.I'm not gonna mention Jafar(or the dumb Iago-thing) 'cause it is such an obvious miscast from the begining. My biggest problem is that they basically killed Aladdin out of his own movie.I don't even know why did they kept the title XD Al was a sidekick in this whole thing,Jas,Jafar,Genie somehow always steal the spotlight from him. He was plain, dumb and boring. He lost all his charisma, wit and quick thinking.
Posted over a year ago
During "One jump ahead" he was still recognizable but then....he was mostly just an awkward joke. Jas had more screentime but saddly they changed her personality completelly. She wasn't interesting, special or unique, she was just a random indian-arabian princess but not my fav Princess. And W Smith, gosh,he played himself mostly not a big suprise thought.(his CGI form was always out of place, mostly scary just)If they wanted a star for the movie they should had cast someone talented and famous for Jafar's role.over a year ago
And the songs, they messed up almost all of them and I've never thought that killing the magic out of "Whole new world" is possible, but hey, they managed it X'D I liked "Speechless",fitted for THIS Jas perfectly. And I liked the people actually lived in the palace, it was so empty in the animated one. Oh and, I liked that Jas&Al escapeing together at the begining. This is all I guess, one time movie 10/4.over a year ago
Honestly, climax and Jafar miscast aside, I still thought this movie was more entertaining than The Lion King. At least with Aladdin it looks like there was some real effort put into it while with TLK was exactly like the original with very minor changes. Aladdin is still one of my favorite remakes but considering all the remakes coming out lately it’s not really saying muchover a year ago

I uploaded the concept art from 'Raya and the Last Dragon' which is the next animated Princess movie from Disney. It was previously titled 'Dragon Empire'. It will be released on November 2020 and Cassie Steele from the show Degrassi will voice the main character Raya, whom Disney confirmed in a tweet to be the first Asian Disney Princess (since Mulan is not royal).
Posted over a year ago
Here's the plot: "the movie takes place in the fictional Kumandra, “a reimagined earth inhabited by an ancient civilization that venerated the mythical dragons for their power and their wisdom. It’s inspired by Southeast Asia, both in its themes of community and hope, and in its design. Raya is a lone warrior from the fantasy kingdom of Kumandra who teams up with a crew of misfits in her quest to find the Last Dragon and bring light and unity back to their world. @JaDangerz: Yes, removal would cause a HUGE uproar. My question was sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek. As to Raya's ethnicity, who knows. Before long, we'll have thirty of these....over a year ago

Why is it whenever I want to visit the Official Disney Princess website, I’m redirected to the Disney Store DP page? I tried several months ago. Same thing. Is anyone else having trouble? Does anyone know the cause of it?

I remember seeing the Disney Princess lineup and when clicked on they would became interactive. Each DP would have her own page. You could play two games and print out a picture to colour. I wanted to see what it looks like now with Moana added. But if it is a giant shop now then there’s no point.over a year ago
When Merida joined I went on there once or twice. Was disappointed it was no longer interactive and they had changed the games I think. But everything else was the same. A shame they changed the site completely now. I’m going to miss those dress up games. But what remains a mystery is how Moana’s joining was announced on the website if it’s only a giant store now?over a year ago

Watched Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus and it was glorious! It was awesome to see most of the gang again and the animation was smooth and clean.

I decided to pop on here for a minute just to see how everyone was doing. I also decided I'm ready to explain why I've taken my hiatus. This past Monday, I had to say goodbye to a very beloved friend-my dog, Rocky. I'm still in pain, but adjusting. If you'd like to know the story, I'd prefer you inbox me because I simply think it's too long to type over the wall. In addition, I'd also like to thank each and every one of you who prayed for me my family. It really means alot! <3

One of my favorite childhood shows is returning as a movie special this Friday on Netflix, and that show would be Invader Zim. I'm super excited for this and it's one of my favorites shows.

I just submitted an application to a program that I am really hoping to get into. The acceptance rate is only 30%, but please wish me luck! I've been preparing for almost a year, and the process was incredibly frustrating. I'm so glad it's out of my hands now, I can finally stop stressing about it.

Hey guys. I might be taking some time off from Fanpop. I'm currently going through a very painful time in my life, and if you notice me not being as active or not active at all, that's why. Please pray for me and my folks. (If you don't pray, keep us in your thoughts.)

I just watched Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling on Netflix and oooh my goooosh it brought back so much nostalgia! I think I liked it so much more than Hey Arnold Jungle Movie! This special even introduced a character as trans and it was done so naturally without making her out to be a joke! I can't wait to see the Invader Zim special coming out this week!

Now that Moana's officially DP, are we gonna do another Fanpop's Favorite Princess List? I don't think I have time to take the lead on this but I hoping someone will do it and I'll participate. Activity on this club has become so sparse in recent years I'm not even sure we'd have enough participants.

I’m always up for a countdown but we’d have to count votes based on comments since “somehow” in my countdowns I get 18 people voting but only 4 people counting (not including me)over a year ago
Would love to see this happen. I was planning on doing it a while back but then life got busy. I wanted to do a slightly different format than just people submitting lists though - instead trying people ranking the DPs on a scale of 1-20 or something. I think it would be a more accurate reflection of how people feel about them but idk. Yeah the club doesn't seem super active atm but doing this might help increase activity and participation?over a year ago
Lady and the Tramp is gonna be the next live action movie but the difference is they will be using real life rescue dogs with actors to voice them and it will be on the Disney+

I just hope that when they use real animals they film the animals in a way that the audience feels what the animals feel. Like with Homeward Bound even though we don’t see their mouths move I really believe they’re actually “saying” those thingsover a year ago
Okay, I just watched Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Prasert pointed out that it looks like 2002 movie The Touch with Michelle Yeoh in it. What do you think??

I heard this morning! I’m wondering what they mean by a “anti Disney princess”, like is that supposed to be a mean jab at DPs or is she just supposed to be “not like other princesses”?over a year ago
Hey all! Just popping by to say hi. How's life? Love the snazzy new banner! Is my girl Moana finally official? I am pretty out of touch at the moment with what's been happening in the realm of Disney haha, life has been crazy busy. Still haven't seen the new Aladdin. How was it? I really don't have the time to be active here again atm, but this website tends to suck me in so we'll see...

Hi! Long time no see! :) Moana is in the lineup and Aladdin wasn’t as great as Cinderella or Jungle Book but it was better than Beauty and the Beastover a year ago
@KataraLover wow that's super interesting that they even made the voice actors re-record. Seems like a strange creative decision but Disney can do what they want I guess.over a year ago
@disnerdtobe great to see you too! Hmm yeah looking at the Disney Princess website I would guess Moana is official, especially since she's included there but Anna and Elsa aren't. I bet they didn't induct her with a coronation because of her whole "I'm not a princess" shtick.over a year ago
I watched it but only for Uma/China Anne McClain. But it was hard to watch Cameron Boyce's scenes because of how he is dead. It's a shame because he was a good-hearted person and was really talented. However, the movie still sucked just like the others. But the sequels weren't nearly as bad as the first movie, though I think decide which of the two sequels is.... marginally better. Also, if y'all are expecting a lot of Hades in the movie, you're going to be VERY disappointed. But the expectations for the Descendants movies are never high, at least for me.over a year ago
