I back!
Miss me?
I know you all did.

Anyways, if I may chime in here, yes, The Event looks absolutly terrible. But you know what else looks like crap? That new JJ Abrams show, the one with the two hot spies who are married or something? Just seems like a lame excuse to see good looking people shooting guns while wearing leather, then making out.

I'm really not all that excite about any new shows. Even the old ones are kinda "meh" for me right now. I like Glee and How I Met Your Mother, but... it's just not Lost. It's. Just. Not. Lost.

If you guys have any suggestions, let me know. I need something to distract me from my studies! lol.

There will never be anything even close to Lost,It's a one-of-a-kind Show.

Up until now,Three shows were dubbed"Next Lost" and didn't make it past their 1st season.

Let's not forget LOST was pretty much the next Twin Peaks. Networks just really want a sci-fi mystery show that can suck both mainstream audiences and weird internet nerds that'll guarantee it lots of attention. There will definitely be a next LOST but I can almost guarantee anyone actually aiming for snatching up LOST's audience will fail. It'll be a show that just wants to tell a creative original story and takes everyone by surprise.

And yeah Undercovers looks pretty bland. "What if Alias was about a couple of sexy people!"

I don't think so,pat-cat.You think there will be a science fiction supernatural mystery fantasy adventure time travel medical drama zombie thriller romantic comedy that has an over 30 characters Ensemble cast, that every episode is centric on of them featuring a secondary story from another point in time in that characters life, before,After or Sideways?

Nope,That was a one-time deal.

Welcome back, Marissa!

I hate to break it to you, alismouha, but Patrick is correct. Lost is not entirely original; it contains aspects from many other previous works (television and otherwise), including Twin Peaks. There will eventually be something that bears at least some sort of resemblance to Lost, whether it be next year or 50 years from now.
over a year ago alismouha said…
But is any of the "Aspects"I mentioned above not entirely original?

That's right,no.

and what is twin peaks?(You're talking to a 13-year-old) thank you.

PS We all missed you! Welcome home! One of us! One of us!

Twin Peaks was a crazy mystey show from the early 90's. It was about the weird murder of this young girl and it was by surreal film maker David Lynch. It was on the level of an art film and for some reason it caught on I'm the mainstream for a few years even though most people had no odea what the hell was going on. (like another show I can think of)
over a year ago tuttleAC said…
surprise
And of course there won't be another show EXACTLY like Lost. That wouldn't even be a different show if it had all those elements. And yeah many of the aspects of lost were taken from various TV shows and books, many of them referenced in the show and by the creators.
over a year ago marissa said…
Yeah, Lost was a clever hodge-pogde of a lot of different elements from a lot of different places. Somehow, they made it work really well and not seem like some bland copy of Castaway or some cooky sci-fi show that people would be turned off of. Really, it was done very well.
I think the beauty of it came from all the different characters - some weeks, it was a comedy, some weeks a thiller, some it was sci-fi, some it was a drama. They found a really good balance and kept it fresh.

Kudos, Lost.
over a year ago tuttleAC said…
I think the issues with many Lost clones is the characters, you're right on the money. Lost started with a season where many of it's overtly scifi elements hidden, where it developed all of it's flat archtype characters into full rounded characters. LOST clones just wanna jump into the heavily serialized stuff thinking that's all of what brought people in.

Why not start the rewatch on your own? I think it might be to hard to do oen with everyone - everyone has different schudueles and everything - but if you want to, we'd still discuss it with you.

Ok,I'll be rewatching the pilot tomorrow, see if I missed anything, look at some classic shots, watch the SS fight, etc.

and then you better discuss it with me,and with "you" I mean marrisa, courtney and pat-cat.

I'm still working though tons of TV shows and movies at the moment. Plus I rewatched most of seasons 1-5 last summer in anticipation for season 6. So yeah, what Marissa said.
over a year ago courtney7488 said…
I concur with Marissa and Patrick. Plus, I don't intend on doing a rewatch for a long time.

I promise to do my best to discuss it with you. :)

over a year ago marissa said…
It might not be the great of episodes, for for the record, I liked Par Avion. What can I say? Charlie and Claire holding hands and looking out over the ocean? What's not to like?! lol

2x18 was "Dave", right? I liked Dave. It was cool to see a darker side to Hurley, even though the episode was still funny. (Hurley and Sawyer's fight was amazing! lol)

Plus, who could forget Sayid and Ben? I think those two had a very underrated relationship. It's great to watch it evolve from seaon two's "My name is Sayid Jarrah and I am a torturer" to season two to Ben coldly stiching Sayid up in The Economist.

Anyhow, I'd write more, but I have lots and lots of homework to do!

And PS. Thanks for taking that curling rock for me, alismouha! And for the record, Patrick, curling is out third favourite sport. Right after hockey and snow-shoe racing.

what do Sayid and ben have to do with "Dave"?

I'm not as big a fan of the season one finale as other people so I have no idea what happens in the second part.

So was 6.3 What Kate Does? That wasn't very good at all. Although the scene with sawyerwas good.
