Batman being a pure-hearted hero, who had a positive outlook on life, rather than the modern, always-brooding, violent Batman, who often acts rude to his fellow superheroes.
The Joker just being a fun-loving criminal, rather than the newer Joker, who's a vicious murder, who abuses people and does all sorts of icky acts.
