Coronavirus is now a partisan political issue. Finding a way forward won't be easy

During election season, new daily cases reached an all-time high. And with almost every metric trending in the wrong direction, it's yet to be seen if the nation will be able to overcome political fault lines to find a way forward.

I don't think it's out of the question that a spiteful narcissist like Trump (and other people of questionable morals within the Republican Party) would purposefully create a mess for Joe Biden to pick up. If that entails tens of thousands of Americans dying preventable deaths, then so be it.

Unfortunately the Republican base won't care because the country has managed to politicise a pandemic.
