Werewolves have "mates" right? Why don't they have that in teen wolf?

At this point because most of the wolves are still teenagers, they have anchors instead, its someone or something to keep you grounded. So when they get old enough their anchor might change into someone they love and they will get a mate, its kind of how Derek was with Paige, in a way, yes they were mates but she was what helped him find his anchor later on.

My guess is that that haven't done that because the majority of the main cast are teenagers...
