Love
By Jeremy Gould

Love
Sweet love
You found me
Replaced misery with joy
Erased pain flying away forever
Never returning to my body
No more deadly sins
Gone for good
Thank you
Love

Love
Jealous love
I feel empty
Her eyes looking away
She's finding some other heart
She thinks it's more valuable
I wasn't good enough
She left me
But why
Love?

Love
Greedy love
You left me
Alone in the rain
To comfort someone else's fear
You took everything with you
Brought back the pain
Now I cry
Fuck you
Love

There I was, sitting in my room
contemplating life's cruel jokes
when the phone startled me from my trance
Yet another fantasy broken

But I was glad to hear from you
in your time of sheer distress
I've been so upset with your troubles
Your voice was such a quiet caress

You began to apologize
for mistakes not your own
I helped nurture your mind
You gave me everything from your soul

I invited you over to chat
A request you graciously accepted
So we had a few beers
That night could have never ended

But when it seemed we had enough
and the sun began to rise
We both knew we could not go back
Our feelings we could not disguise

That night was our night
and nothing will take that away
Locked together in eternal harmony
We talked through the night, and then you stayed

You, my good friend, my best friend
always played
I asked for your hand
and then you stayed

When you think of paradise what do you see?
A land of beauty surrounded by sea?
A lovely forest drowning in green?
Flowers as far as the eyes can see?

Everyone's got a different idea; a different view
What does paradise look like to you?

Do you see it wherever you go?

Don't you have a happy place?
To bring forth a smile upon your face?

I had this illusion once
I had my place to be
when things got too crowded here
I had a taste of it all to myself
and I spit it right back out

Paradise
It sounds nice
But what happens when you arrive
and things aren't like they're supposed to be?

My day begins when the sun ends
I rise from my grave seeking prey
Love on my mind
Death on my breath
The taste of you won't go away

Through the window I sneak
Perhaps just a peek
But this hunger rages inside
It's you I can't deny

Blending gracefully with the night
My bloodshot eyes target your soul
Crosshairs aimed
On my list: the devil's kiss
To grasp your heart is my true goal

I approach from above
To become drunk on your love
'Cause this hunger rages inside
It's you I can't deny

I soar like a vulture through the air
Circling your corpse lying below me
I accept your offer
A flood of blood
As my fangs sink deeply into your dreams

Come inside my dear
You've nothing to fear
Our hunger becomes one
Together we'll live forever

I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguished, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air,
Morn came and went and came, and brought no day,
And men forgot their passions in the dread
Of this their desolation; and all hearts
Were chilled into a selfish prayer for light;
And they did live by watchfires—and the thrones,
The palaces of crowned kings the huts,
The habitations of all things which dwell,
Were burnt for beacons, cities were consumed,
And men were gathered round their...

For a long time I dwelt under vast porticos
Which the ocean suns lit with a thousand colors,
The pillars of which, tall, straight, and majestic,
Made them, in the evening, like basaltic grottos.

The billows which cradled the image of the sky
Mingled, in a solemn, mystical way,
The omnipotent chords of their rich harmonies
With the sunsets' colors reflected in my eyes,

It was there that I lived in voluptuous calm,
In splendor, between the azure and the sea,
And I was attended by slaves, naked, perfumed,

Who fanned my brow with fronds of palms
And whose sole task it was to fathom
The dolorous secret that...

Cats

Both ardent lovers and austere scholars
Love in their mature years
The strong and gentle cats, pride of the house,
Who like them are sedentary and sensitive to cold.

Friends of learning and sensual pleasure,
They seek the silence and the horror of darkness;
Erebus would have used them as his gloomy steeds:
If their pride could let them stoop to bondage.

When they dream, they assume the noble attitudes
Of the mighty sphinxes stretched out in solitude,
Who seem to fall into a sleep of endless dreams;

Their fertile loins are full of magic sparks,
And particles of gold, like fine grains of sand,
Spangle...

BEAUTY

by: Charles Baudelaire

AM as lovely as a dream in stone,
And this my heart where each finds death in turn,
Inspires the poet with a love as lone
As clay eternal and as taciturn.

Swan-white of heart, a sphinx no mortal knows,
My throne is in the heaven's azure deep;
I hate all movements that disturb my pose,
I smile not ever, neither do I weep.

Before my monumental attitudes,
That breathe a soul into the plastic arts,
My poets pray in austere studious moods,

For I, to fold enchantment round their hearts,
Have pools of light where beauty flames and dies,
The placid mirrors of my luminous eyes.
