well i went and saw the movie with a Q&A session with some of the producers in Sydney. They said that only one person in the production crew was a fan of the books. They also had to cut out a lot of chapters because it would make the movie too graphic for a PG rating. Another thing was the movie had to be around 90 min which the golden rule of making a animation movie. To explain why there was a Tasmainan Devil (When they attack Kludd and Soren on the ground) and a Echidna was to fit in with the Australian Government requirement for a tax break (get half of the production cost back from the Government) was to make the movie "uniquely Australian". I hope this helped.

Well, I'm guessing they sort of scan through it. Like paying attention to the major characters and events. They would kind of have to read it, since how else would they know what to include in the movie, and what it's even really about.

Of course. The movie was a little different, but they has to make some changes and move stuff around to fit in the movie and make it less confusing. Many books of information is hard to fit in one movie. The changes were good, I think. I didn't really care that they strayed from the book in places.

oh hell no they didnt. they probably just read the first like 3 books and said "hey lets make a movie that is completly NOT the guardians of ga'hoole and make up our own story!" seriously i WASTED my money on that movie. it does a real injustice to how awesome the series is.
