Who will win? Tangled vs. Frozen! Frozen frost or Tangled tracks?

It is going to be EPIC! So hold on your seats for the comparison of two blockbusters of Disney---TANGLED AND FROZEN. This is my first article, so I am a bit nervous but I hope you enjoy this beauty list!

While Frozen comes with great directors and has much consumerism, Tangled has amazing visuals, entertaining storyline, great music, wonderful characterization and nice places! Let’s Start!

VISUALS AND ANIMATION:
Back in 2010, Tangled was considered to be one of the most beautiful looking animated films ever created. The animators worked hard to create a “painterly look”, blending hand drawn and CGI techniques. As a result, we have a film that is visually stunning. Rapunzel’s hair is the scene-stealer. It shimmers, glows and moves fluidly, making it a marvel of modern animation. Characters’ facial expressions are lifelike, as seen especially in Mother Gothel. Colors are eye-popping and bright, with vivid greens and pinks popping out all around. Clothes have intricate patterns and embroidery and look realistic. Silk and leather are instantly recognizable, rosemailing, shiny fabric as are gold crowns and jewels. And the iconic and wonderous lantern sequence is the movie’s star attraction.

Frozen takes a different approach to its animation. Characters aren’t lifelike, rather, veer towards a more cartoony look. Snow and ice are the stars of the movie. Special software was created to emulate the translucency of ice, as well as the unique properties of snow. Elsa’s ice gown is a nice piece of animation and design. It sparkles, glitters and looks nice but no big deal. The climactic blizzard is another good work, and Elsa’s ice palace is so nice. Wooly fabrics, beautiful rosemaling, textures and embroidery, it’s all there. But not up to Tangled, snow is nothing to behold and like so much, and the visuals are rather cartoonish and too boringly blue. Frozen stuck much more strictly to its three dimensional foundation, and as a result the animation- while in no way bad- lacked the same charm and flow that Tangled contained. It’s something that audiences wouldn’t be likely to notice, consciously, but really makes all the difference in the world. The attention to detail of movement in Tangled has yet to be equaled in a 3D film. Frozen also suffered from some strange staging and composition choices that left some of the animation flat in some very important moments of the film.

Winner: TANGLED! OF COURSE, THE NICE POLISHING AND DETAILING ARE TO BEHOLD AND SO ARE THE LIFELIKE COLOURS AND CHARECTERS! WAY BETTER THAN FROZEN.

THE PLOT AND STORYLINE:
Both Tangled and Frozen are fairytales with a psychological story at their core. Rapunzel is held captive by her “mother” for eighteen years, yearning to break free and see the world. It manages to focus on mature themes like fear, betrayal, helplessness and loneliness. Anna and Elsa are sisters torn apart by a secret, which drives Elsa to fear the world. However, on the basis of heart melting, Tangled’s story stands out as being more enjoyable, cohesive, attractive, mature, emotional and satisfying by the time we reach the end. Frozen, despite its sparkly opening and first act, sort of loses its drive in the middle to final act, which falls rather thin and contrived. The plot is a total mess with no focus. It does not wraps up neatly with a bow, but the ending of Frozen, lets be honest, is trumped by Tangled. Still, Frozen is rushed and also confusingly annoying. And it’s really this focus on the few that I think gives Tangled the edge here. Frozen introduced a large cast, continually adding more throughout the film, and as a result few of the characters developed in as meaningful a way as in Tangled. Certainly lessons were learned by all, but it wasn’t felt as much because there was so much to do before the credits rolled. Not to mention Tangled was clear when it came to heroes vs. villains. Without spoiling Frozen, the antagonist was dropped out of nowhere and given no time to evolve in any way. Tangled told a complete story in just the right amount of time. Frozen tried to tell too many stories and as a result the whole film suffered from a lot of pacing issues. That’s without taking into account the numerous plot holes and logical missteps of Frozen. Because the scope of Tangled was smaller, it likely allowed the writers and creators to hone the story in a way Frozen just wasn’t able to.

Winner: TANGLED! FACE IT: TANGLED AND FROZEN BOTH ARE DARK, FEMALE-DRIVEN TALES BUT TANGLED IS NOT CLICHÉ AND BORING LIKE FROZEN, INSTEAD IT IS CLEAR, ENTERTAINING AND MORE EMOTIONAL

CHARACTERIZATION:
The characters in Tangled tend to rely on each other to develop and are well-drawn .Rapunzel is smart, brave, feisty, patient on events around her. Flynn Rider is generous and commands most of the movie’s humor. With Gothel, we also have a great villain who is manipulative and evil and totally a bit relatable to evil dark people, Pascal who is so intelligent and loyal and yarns for Rapunzel’s freedom and safety. And also Maximus, who only believed in his master’s command to catch Flynn but later knows and helps Flynn and is loyal! We don’t leave the kind and hopeful and queen! There are all characters who we feel for on a more personal level. Plus, we know characters like them in our day to day lives. We believe in them. We just don’t only relate to them, but also root for them! Punzie had fear, but didn’t always whine despite mental torture! Punzie had fear, but didn’t always whine despite mental torture! TELLING IT AGAIN!
For many, the characters of Frozen were likely preferred, as the theme of “Expectations vs. Who I Want To Be” is something many people at this period of history can associate with. We live in such a prosperous time that who we want to be is an option for us, where as throughout history duty was far more important than individualism. Yet there’s an underlying selfishness that should really be more in the spotlight. Elsa is treated in a very poor way by her parents early in the film, no one will deny that. “Conceal don’t feel” is a horrific lesson passed on by her family. However the stark opposite is hardly any better. When Elsa flees to the mountaintop and sings her ballad of “Let it go” it is just as extreme in the mirrored perspective. She literally speaks of not caring how her actions affect anyone else because “the cold doesn’t bother HER” specifically. The song, which has become a battle cry to many young teenagers who want to hear exactly what is being preached, is extremely self centered and just as negative as the advice of her parents just in the opposite way.

The other lead of Frozen, Anna, is much more upbeat, however there are some serious issues in the way she acts as well. I can’t possibly say it any better than esteemed Animation Acting teacher Ed Hooks already has right here. It’s a terrific look at just why there’s a lack of truth to the actions of the characters in
Frozen has optimist Anna, conflict Elsa, funky Kristoff, idiotic Olaf, dumb trolls and yet lame Hans. They play the important roles. Yea, they are kinda good. Elsa is sour-sweet deuterogamist. She is too depressed and scared, she really overacts. Really whiny, Elsa is weird. Will a person cry all the fricking 13 years she stays, come on pipe down. Punzie had fear, but didn’t always whine despite mental torture! And they must be physically insane for they had no food or water for 13 years and surprisingly, Elsa had no will power and hope for unity! She didn’t even feel guilty or be sad by shutting her sister, yet for safety, she could tell Anna and forget all those creepy legendary words. And sings a song about never going back though has and wants to after 45 minutes! Punzie had fear, but didn’t always whine despite mental torture! SHE YARNED TO BE FREE BUT HAS HAPPY MIDST HER FALSE MOTHER AND HER HOBBIES, SHE RE-READ THE 3 BOOKS , WHILE ELSA AND ANNA HAD A WHOLE LIBRARY AND DID NOT TOUCH A BOOK. Frozen tried to be too modern! Rapunzel has spent her life locked in a tower, which FEW people have experienced but know how suffocated how it feels when your over protective parents don’t allow you to enjoy. Flynn is a relatable, but only after his back story comes out far into the film. A bad, ladies-man being a good guy, is fine. I men he appears a baddy criminal but inside his emotions, he is heartfelt! Still, the characters have an air of truth about them. Their actions make sense, and because of that become much more believable.
It’s also important to note character from a design standpoint, specifically in relation to voices. The characters of Tangled fit their voices well, yet the same can’t quite be said of the whole crew of Frozen. Elsa simply did not fit the voice provided by Idina Menzel, as lovely as the singing was. It was a case where the character clearly had been designed, instead of fitting with the voice attached to her. Consider some characters that really took advantage of their voice actors from a design perspective: Phil in Hercules, Genie in Aladdin, and Scar in The Lion King. Here the design of the character fit the voice to perfection. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the cast of Frozen.
Winner: It is a hard one, yet I am declaring, it is Tangled! It has better, yet more realistic characterization, it took 75 years, so we expect better Characters, and it did satisfy us!

Music:
Tangled and Frozen are musicals which rocked our hearts with powerful music! Yea, yea, they are very nice! But which one is nicer? It is so hard!
Okay, first Tangled! We think it is a very awesome and the music is good. It is Alan Menken’s music, so the songs are wonderful for him. Oh, why can’t people stop humming ‘I see the light’ and ‘When will my life begin?’? For they are so marvelous, and powerful. Mandy Moore has a rockin’ powerful voice and Zachary Levi conveys emotion in his each word of song! They are both wonderfully equal! So, Tangled is funny and more comical, but also a great musical! Isn’t it? Some songs maybe soft, but kinda power-packed! The singers rock as well as the nice music! The wonderful songs will get stuck in your head. The wordless music is also fantastic, as played in the Kingdom Dance. Less songs, yet unforgettable! Litsen, they are not a bit annoying. “When will my life begin?” is wonderful with emotions and powerful singing voice, “Mother knows the best!” is a darkly evil villain song with wowing lyrics,”Flower Gleam and Glow.” Is a soft, yet nice incantation,”I’ve Got A Dream’’ is superbly funky and not crappy as told, “I see the light!” is the best song not of only Tangled, but of Disney as it has romantic animation and lyrics with fantastic singing voices and wonderfully unforgettable music! The characters fit their voice: Mandy Moore’s sweet voice is lent to energetic Rapunzel, Flynn is brave and has Zachary Levi’s emotional voice and dark Mother Gothel comes with the deep and strong voice of Donna Murphy! So it is a great musical!

Frozen is nice when it comes to music. “Let it go” is the movie’s scene stealer. All the ice is really suitable with songs. It is a very powerful musical and is a movie where characters keep singing which makes it more of a music album than a movie. But they are just nice, not so stunning. Oh, it is so irritating to see all little girls brainwashed by singing “DO YOU WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAN” and “LET IT GO”! And also wearing Elsa’s ice dress. The songs are extremely overrated and make kids as well as critics too insane!! And the characters keep singing, keep singing! The songs are nice, but I hate it for its overrating and annoyingness! They are irritating! THE SONGS ADD NOTHING TO THE PLOT AND ARE ONLY PUT TO RUN THE FILL OF THE TIME! “Let it Go” is kinda awesome out of all other Frozen songs, no denying it is!

Winner: It was very tough, it is Tie! No one wins at the songs, and both rock at their point, but something is missing, you can feel it, no? Frozen and Tangled have a tie if it comes to music, honestly!
Villains:
In Tangled, we have the evil Mother Gothel. She is evil, selfish, manipulative, cruel, self-centered and proud. She is very cunning, though. She stole a baby just to be young and attractive forever. She then led Rapunzel to verbal abuse and left her to do the household! This heartless and wicked lady brainwashed Rapunzel for 18 years and shouted & scolded Punzie whenever she wanted to go outside. Gothel was never worried about Punzie’s safety but her beauty. This greedy woman even stabbed Flynn for he loved Rapunzel. Thank God, at last this devious villain died. But Mother Gothel looks a bit beautiful in a gothic way.

In Frozen, we’ve got no clear villain. Seriously, Elsa, Duke of Wesleton or Hans? I finally decided it’d be Hans. He was very conceited and selfish, yet stupid. Well, why would he at first be so polite and elegant and all of a sudden turn evil? It was not needed, his plan was too dumb. He wanted to take over Arendelle, but why like this? He is so coward and foolish. His entrance was not powerful and his villain song, (I assume its ‘Love is an open door’) really, was too sweet, Hans wasn’t at all a good villain.

Winner: It was very easy, and of course the winner is Tangled! Hans is a lame and idiotic person who’s not fit for a villain and Gothel is ill-tempered and black-hearted
Sidekicks:
Hmm, sidekicks make sense here. In Tangled, we have Pascal. He is an highly intelligent chameleon who is trusty and smart. He has chivalry and dare, and he guides Rapunzel & makes sure that she is happy and safe. This selfless sidekick is so brave that he killed Gothel! Woohoo! Then Maximus is there. He seemed as an evil one at first, but he chased Flynn as loyalty to the Captain. Max slowly realized the goodness in Flynn and saved him from the guards. He is a perfect example of character development!

In Frozen, we have stupid and funny Olaf and Sven. Olaf is a funky snowman but is too annoying. He keeps on cracking sick and gross jokes and is too particular about his carrot nose. He is a poor sidekick, all he does is crumble and joke! This irritating snowman sings about summer, like it is his death wish. Go Olaf, and die in a hole. Sven is a bit funny. But he is awfully idiotic and made horrible moaning sounds only. Sven and Olaf had no use in the film and could be taken out of it.

Winner: The winner is Tangled! Olaf and Sven were gross and foolish, while Pascal and Maximus were clever and courageous!
Magic:
This is an unfair category, but I’m including it for both the movies seem to be shaped with magical powers at their core. In Tangled, we have the hair power. Rapunzel is kidnapped for her magical hair. It heals people, rejuvenates youth and brings the dead back to life. Plus, it is beautiful and when it glows, it looks stunning! I like it for it helps people and is beautiful.

Frozen has lovely ice. The transculency and the flow is simply nice. Elsa’s ice palace is good and so is her dress. But it does nothing without decorating? Elsa’s magic froze Arendelle, hurt Anna two times and caused a haunting freeze. Too terrible to handle. I love that it is lovely looking but I’ll rather help people than hurt them.

Winner: The winner is Tangled, no doubt! The snow is a lovely blue and white but I dislike it for Elsa’s insecure uses. Rapunzel helps herself and others with her show stopping hair.

Female lead:
Rapunzel is a multi-talented young woman who can sew a dress for her pet, paint, make candles, bake, dance ballet, play guitar, do pottery and has many other awesome hobbies including reading just 3 books which she enjoys. Rapunzel has a lot of love for her pet chameleon, Pascal. The two of them hang out all the time, and when Rapunzel leaves the tower, Pascal is her biggest ally. She even makes friends with Maximus, Flynn Rider’s tough horse. Even if she has been kept in an isolated tower, she enjoys. As soon as she met Flynn, she charmed him enough to take her to see the lanterns, not moed by his smolder. She finds the good in the bunch of creepy thugs. She charms and never judges Maximus, even if not manipulating him. She travels to Corona and charms others with one hell of a dance, convincing them to join her in dance, too. Punzie just desires to go and see the floating lanterns. She’s curious about the world beyond, many people can relate to it. She experiences guilt when making her own decisions, shown when she finally escapes from the tower and travels on her own. She’s torn between what she thinks is right and what others think is right, every young people’s dilemma. Not only Rapunzel’s (or Mandy Moore’s) is beautiful, light, emotional, airy, strong, powerful, marvelous, sweet and jazzy but she has great dance moves. One of the best scenes in Tangled is the community-wide dance that Rapunzel starts up. She’s twirling and feet-stomping with the best of them. Let us be honest, Rapunzel is humble and graceful, but she is also a ravishing woman with long and stunning golden hair which is envy of little girls. But at the end of the film, her golden locks are hacked off by Flynn, leaving her with a jagged brown bob. Rapunzel couldn’t care less. She doesn’t shed a tear, doesn’t get mad at Flynn, and has no problem rocking her short hair. Remember that Rapunzel’s hair was magic, and once it’s been cut it can never grow back. Rapunzel makes it clear that her appearance is the least of her concerns. She’s got bigger fish to fry. Punzie is down for a brilliant adventure. She leaves her tower and sets out on a journey to the floating lanterns, and she’s downright joyous about it. Sure, she’s a little scared and struggles with guilt, but she’s open and willing to new experiences. Most of Disney’s princesses get shoved into their adventure. Left to their own devices, they would have never gone out and had experiences. Rapunzel embraces the mystery. Rapunzel has a very kind and caring heart. She doesn’t show bitterness about any situation or snap at her friends. She’s sweet to just about everyone. You could argue that all of the princesses have a responsibility to be kind, but Rapunzel has gone through a major tragedy and would have every right to be depressed or mean… but she isn’t. Rapunzel is independent and charismatic. She might need the help of Flynn to escape the tower, but think about the years she had been penting in her little house, with no one but her chameleon for company. Mother Gothel visits every once in a while, but it’s clear she doesn’t live there. Rapunzel runs the whole house by herself, cleaning it and cooking meals. She’s just turned 18 when the film starts. How many teenagers do you know that are responsible and independent enough to live on their own? Rapunzel is also very selfless and loving. One of the best moments in Tangled comes when Gothel and Rapunzel have their final scene together. It comes after Flynn cuts Rapunzel’s hair, releasing her from Mother Gothel’s power. As Mother Gothel flails about the tower, aging rapidly, she trips. Just before she falls to her death, we get the best moment of forgiveness in Disney history: Rapunzel reaches out her hands to pull Mother Gothel back to safety. She reaches out to the woman who stole her from her family, imprisoned her in a tower, and stabbed the love of her life. She forgives. Rapunzel maybe the best Disney character?

I, honestly, don’t like Elsa. Sure she is good at singing and determined, I hate her. Elsa is a big bad girl and a Mary sue. She is the worst! She whines half of the movie, then has the worst wardrobe. Elsa argues with Anna for a blizzard she could have fixed and sang LET IT GO, which became a battle cry to many young teenagers! It is showing how evil and self centered. This chick abandons her Kingdom and than showed off some skin, ya? This annoying prick is a terrible sister, and is totally selfish and heartless! What about kindness? Plus, she is a cold hearted and psychopathic chick who needs to take depression pills ASAP. AND ELSA IS A OVERRATED AND NOT SO COOL AS SHE IS VIEWED BY NUTTY FANS!

AND THE RESULTS ARE……

TANGLED WINS!!!
It is the best Disney film!

30. Cinderella - first childhood dress

This dress is somewhat cute, but is definitely not Cinderella's best outfit. The color is nice, but the skirt is too puffy and big. Also the sleeves are a bit weird.

It's so...I dunno. I don't really like it. I know it is for a little girl, but still. - ppgbelle4

It's really childish and the skirt...

Normally every morning, Melody would always say good morning to her father.

"Good morning, Melody," said Eric. But she did not on one Saturday morning.

"Melody, I said good morning," Eric was feeling a bit hurt. Melody narrowed her eyes at him. She did not utter a single word. Before Eric could reprimand her manners, Ariel announced that pancakes are ready. Breakfast was also filled uncomfortable silence. Melody poked at her pancakes. Eric only took a few bites of his, feeling awkward.

"Well…," said Eric, sheepishly as he put his coat on. "…I got to go. I'll see you later Miss Benson and...

Great, Char. Now you're gonna have to do the right thing. He started paddling toward Le Fou but drew back after the pain stung him again. He looked into the black water and saw red coming.

Cinderella smoothed back her hair. "This is terrible! Now we have to find Snow White, too!"
Aurora thought a minute. "Do you think her disappearance has something to do with Gaston?"
"Maybe," said Belle. "But how did he summon a magic portal?"

Rapunzel lets down her hair in this teaser for the new Disney film Tangled, but she's not the only one. Remember how in March Disney changed the title of the movie Rapunzel to Tangled? As Erik Davis wrote, it was to attract more boys to the film than, say, The Princess and the Frog, which has made a mere $267M worldwide at the time of this writing and has the nasty word "princess" in the title.

Well, this teaser definitely ups the ante when it comes to ditching Rapunzel's long-haired legacy. Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) is Rapunzel's accidental savior -- this smooth operator...

Switch #1: Pocahontas and Jasmine

Let us immerse ourselves in a world where trees can talk, carpets can fly, and genies dance and sing. It is in this world that we find two princesses very different from each other, separated by time and distance. This world is about to face a drastic change, although nobody knows it. Because those two princesses are about to switch lives, switch stories, and they won’t...

Since I am trying to make the Princess Of The Month more popular, this is another one of my ideas. In the end of each month I'll post articles, based on the countdowns for songs, hairstyles and outfits. There everybody will have the chance to discuss whether they agree with the results, what corresponded to their expectations, and what they wish would have been different!

I was recently informed that the problem with the pictures in the articles is gone, and now the pictures can be put inside the text. However, I'm going to continue using mainly pictures for my articles, because first of all, that's what I've been doing for the rest of the articles from these series, and second, I like this way of doing articles! So maybe at some point I will switch back to the explanatory and sophisticated words articles, but for the time being I will stick to my picture articles!

Here are the results of the POTM Hairstyles Countdown: ~*Pocahontas*~ (May 2013)! Enjoy and share your opinion!
