I shall tell you the truth: I've been a bit militant in my liking of Cinderella. Negatives opinions made me feel stressed and I have been stubborn and rude. What made me change my point of view and see the wrong of my ways was when I saw link: "I think Cinderella is both overly passive and a doormat, because it's one that leads to the other. In this way, I can sort of relate to her because I'm very passive and shy of confrontation. However, I'm not saying this makes her less of a valid or interesting character. Sometimes its nice to watch a heroine who isn't all assertive and kick butt, at least for me, because I can see a bit more of myself in the former."

I blinked and finally understood that seeing Cinderella as a doormat is just another form of seeing a fictional character. I shouldn't take everything so personally, and I apologize to everyone I've been rude, mean or disrespectful to, especially MacytheStrange. I'm sorry, Maisie, and I hope you can forgive me.

But I would like to dedicate a short article telling you guys why I don't think Cinderella is a doormat, or someone who can't say "no" or the sort. This is just my way of seeing things, my interpretation of the character and you are not obliged to agree with it. I just want to clear my thoughts on that, so I can be in peace with myself.

Why I don't think Cinderella is a doormat:

I don't think Cinderella could run away from home. This doesn't have to do with historical accuracy, because Disney movies aren't really historically accurate. I'm basing this of excerpts from the movie where I view as implying that she couldn't run away from home. Sorry if it's hard to understand what I meant.

1) The society where Cinderella lives seem to work on a patriarchal basis. Based on quotes and actions from Lady Tremaine, the stepsisters and the King we can tell that the woman's "job", per say, is marrying and bringing up her husband's children. It doesn't seem like there is much opportunity for a single woman to find a proper job and live on her own.

2) Cinderella tells Bruno after he admits dreaming of chasing Lucifer: "So if you don't want to lose a warm, nice bed, you'd better get rid of those dreams." A metaphor for her own situation, perhaps? Not far-fetched to assume, since the struggles between the mice and Lucifer are metaphors for Cinderella's own struggles with the Tremaines.

3) When Cinderella walks into Lady Tremaine's bedroom, a prison bars-like shadow is cast over her (pictured below). And what's a prison, after all? A place where you (supposedly) can't escape. See the comparision I'm making here?

Of course, much is left to intepretation about Cinderella's motives, and I'm just coming up with my own conclusions. You can think she chose to stay because she wanted to honor her father's memory by keeping his state in order. Or maybe she didn't leave because she wanted to take care of the mice and the other animals. Perhaps Lady Tremaine warned her fellow upper-class members about her, saying her stepdaughter is "just an imaginative child", quoting from the movie (I borrowed this argument from the page I already linked). Or maybe she was afraid of her stepmother. Lady Tremaine wouldn't let her go easily, because she doesn't have money to afford a servant, so she need Cinderella's free housekeeping services.

It's always good to leave something vague about the character, because it leads the viewer/reader to use their imagination amd fill in the blanks. In the end, the character becomes more relatable or personal to them. Belle, for example, has her "more than I can tell", and in Sleeping Beauty we are left wondering why Aurora went back to the castle: maturity or lack of backbone (I go with the first)? And Elsa is the perfect exemple: look at how many people managed to imprint their mental illnesses, depression and anxiety in her! With Cinderella we are left wondering why she didn't leave the chateau.

Now, I think there are a lot of reasons some might dislike Cinderella: to be honest, I don't find her the most interesting princess to watch (though I don't find her the least interesting and she manages to hold my attention), and she can sound hypocritical when she reprimands Bruno and tells him to stop dreaming, among other reasons. But in the end, she is my favorite princess because she's the one who inspires me the most and has a wonderful personality.

Besides, I can't help but be seduced by her honey-like words: "No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true".

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed my simple words. And remember:

These are simply based on how much I like/admire/relate to that character, and it's only my opinion, so you don't have to agree with it. :) Let's begin!

12. Aurora
Pretty, yes, but where's the personality?
Pretty, yes, but where's the personality?

She doesn't do much at all, and for me to like someone they have to actually DO something. She only gets 18 minutes of screen time in the whole movie, and only 18 lines! She's pretty and graceful and all, but I don't see any real personality or character in her, just a bland princess space-filler.

11. Elsa
I think it's time to let Elsa go.

Honestly I don't know why the world is so obsessed...

First of all, THANK YOU so much to the 24+ fans on this site who participated in my series of "DP personality trait" polls! I was so happy to see so many voters as I wanted this to be a very community-involved thing. Your participation was most necessary and appreciated! :D Your comments were even more appreciated and some are posted throughout the article as relevant to each trait. [*Note: I am more than willing to remove any comments upon simple request from commenter.]

In the series of polls, the last one was not pertaining as specifically to the DP itself but more the film around the DP...

I thought it would be a cute idea to do an article with something positive about each of the Disney Princesses in the style of a high school yearbook. Since I am writing this from my opinion, I have labeled them with traits that I find the most positive in a princess/female.

1. Snow White- Most Caring & Kind: Snow White wouldn't hurt a fly. She is so kind and caring that she doesn't even understand why the animals were trying to attack the evil queen disguised as an old woman. "With a smile and a song" it is clear that Snow White is very nurturing. She immediately takes to the dwarves like...

I got this idea when I learned that at one point, Disney actually was using some of the princesses in cause advertisements and it got me thinking: If each of the Disney Princesses wanted to select a cause/charity to contribute to, which would it be?

Snow White- Senior Citizens: Snow White ends up homeless after running away from the evil queen and she was fortunate that the 7 dwarfs took her in. This is why I think she would want to help senior citizens the way she did for the dwarfs and the way that they helped her (although they were not senior, they were getting close).

Cinderella- Animal...

1.Pocahontas and Merida are currently the only Princesses to not originate from the traditional fairy tales.

2.Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and Belle are currently the only Princesses to not be voiced by the respective actresses from their original films.

3.Belle is the only Disney Princess to have hazel eyes.

4. Mulan is also the first Disney Princess to not actually be a princess. All the others are either royal by birth, or marry into royalty.

5.Ariel is the only Disney Princess who was not born a human.

6.Both Mulan and Tiana are left-handed.

7.. Rapunzel’s eyes are the biggest compared...

Last time I wrote about songs that I thought suited Mulan, today I'll write about songs that I think suits Pocahontas, hope you'll like this article :)

link - Bon Jovi
Totally suits her, she does crazy things in the movie and the people in her movie judge her because of that

link - Justin Timberlake
This song describes Pocahontas' and John Smith's relationship perfectly well (even though the song is quite long)

link - Katy Perry
Like the previous song it describes Pocahontas' and John Smith's relationship quite well, not as great as the previous one, but still it sort of suits

link - Michael Jackson...

I know it's a couple years late but I've always wanted to address this and what better way to do it than an article.

Now I have a LOVE/hate relationship with this video, I have to make sure to emphasize the first word because honestly I thought it was funny. I'm sorry, it makes me laugh every time. I love Robot Chicken and Adult Swim, they're hilarious.

So as you can guess I'm not mad at Robot Chicken for making the video. Their job is to make me laugh and they do it well. They've done just as bad if not worse to characters that are just as if not more beloved. I don't take it seriously. They...

I've seen these articles around and I got the urge to do one myself. They seem so fun! And of course I'll give you the links so you can enjoy the music and maybe even get down with your funky self. ANYWAY before I get too crazy let's hit the music!

Snow White - Love Story by Taylor Swift

One song, I have but one song, one song that is perfect for Snow White. Not to diss my beloved Snow White, but I usually associate her with the classic love story, singing about a prince and how he'll carry her away and though her motives aren't always because of her prince ideal I feel that she always...

1 = Ariel

Ariel's my prettiest. I know a lot of people would be totally against this opinion, because her hair doesn't look "natural," or her body's "too thin;" but I absolutely love the way she looks. Her hair is thick and flows nicely, which I love A LOT, her eyes are a beautiful blue, and her skin seems to be a nice light tan/pale color. To me, she's absolutely beautiful.
