Classic Disney Question

Is there actually any GOOD disney sequels out there?

I just noticed that nearly all of the sequels are pretty bad...I mean really looking at the classics...the only one I know of is Toy Story (hopefully they don't ruin it with the third). Is there any others?

My mistake on my grammar, "Are there any others>"

Hmmmm. The Lion King 2 was probably the best one. They didn't butcher The Little Mermaid's sequels too bad, seeing as it's sequel was more centered around Ariel's daughter than herself, and the other one was a prequel. The worst by far would be Pocahantas's and Cinderella's sequels. I refuse to watch Pocahantas's sequel because they change her main love intrest, and poor Cindy's sequels just plain suck. Cinderella III: A Twist in Time? >.< LLLAMMMMEEEE

The Little Mermaid 3. That is a very touching story. Its about Ariels mother and the story we never got to see, it has catchy music again. How Ariel met Flounder. We see more of her sisters.

An advice from me: Just forget about the classics for a while JUST FOR A WHILE and watch the sequels you will see that many of them are not too bad theyre just like decent shows that we watch on TV every day. Some of them are really bad indeed such as Beauty and the beast 2 or Aladdin 2 or The hunchback 2 but try Lion king 2 or The little mermaid 3 they are ok

I am not 100% sure if it is a sequel or a prequel, but I liked 'Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas'. But what irritates me is one song 'Stories' (I think it's called that) just Belle's singing *shudders* when she sings the high notes, it sounds like she's locked in an iron maiden! :P

I was about to say Toy Story II but I saw your despcription... I can't think of any other good sequel -- they usually don't work out that well... but if I had to choose one that was still bearable to watch I'd say, The Lion King II course Aladdin II was good it just wasn't the best because Robin Williams didn't play Genie...hmmm hard question.

Well I like most of 'em, I hate the Mulan, Lilo And Stich and Cinderella ones though.

The good ones are:
Lion King: Simba's Pride
Lady And The Tramp: Scamp's Adventure
Bambi 2 (That one was a little cheesy, but it was so cute!!)
Fox And The Hound Two (Again, cheesy but cute.)

There's many more that I like but I won't say all of them, Disney's kind of a hit and miss with sequels really; some are awful and make you wanna vomit, some are good and manage to impress you. :)

I think that Lion King II, Aladin II and III, Cinderella III and Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas are pretty great. My fave is Pocohontas II though. Most don't like it because it isn't the same guy as the first, but it follows the true life story.

I think the key to making a good sequel is to avoid any continuation of the original story. The best way to do this is creating an entirely new main character. The best examples are:

Peter Pan II: Wendy's daughter
Lion King II: Simba’s daughter

There are times when the story is so different and fun that they can get away with using the same character. The best examples from this category are Toy Story II & III and Aladdin III.

Aladdin II was awful because they used the same villain and that never works. It just makes it boring and predictable.

Also I wanted to add, a lot of people seem to really dislike Pocahontas II. I personally really respect that movie. It’s the only Disney movie I can think of that actually attempts to follow the historic facts. The real Pocahontas when to England and fell in love with another man named John then on her trip back to America she died. Of course they didn't show the last part in the movie but they didn't show her getting to America ether. It might sound a little a bit nerdy but for that reason alone Pocahontas II is one of my favorite sequels.

I usually like sequels. When I was a kid I even loved them more than the originals. I've changed my opinion on some of them, but I consider them as canon as their predecessors.

Love (even more than the first ones):
TLK2 (ROCKS!!!) Toy Story 2 & 3 (i actually don't like the original) Aladdin and the King of Thieves (mostly because of Cassim) Cars 2 (even though i didn't like mater as the protagonist) Pocahontas 2 (i know the first one is better in plot and animation, but i can't help to love this!!) Cinderella 3 (pretty good)

Like it, but same or less than the original:
Mulan 2, Belle's magical World, HoND2, Cinderella 2, Fantasia 2000 (some of the segments were good), TLK3, Kronk's Groove

Average
Peter Pan 2 (i don't like the original either), Tarzan 2, BatB an Enchanted Christmas

Dislike/Hate:
The rescuers down under (because of jake), Bambi 2, Fox and the hound 2, TLM 2, Brother bear 2, Lady and the Tramp 2

I know there're ones i didn't mentioned but it's because i don't remember them so much, or i haven't seen them yet.

From what I know, theres quite a few. There was the Lion King then Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (not a sequel) and then Lion King 1/2 which I consider the sequel. Then theres Monsters Inc. They had that and apparently a Monsters Inc. 2 but nobody knew because it was never released into theaters. Then theres going to be Monsters University which is technically the sequel to it. What else? Well they had 3 Little Mermaids, the first original one, the second one about her daughter, and then the sequel, about Ariel's life right after her mother dying and her dad being super strict. Then there was Toy Story, and finally Cars. Cars, Cars 2, and now they are going to make Disneys Planes, which I also consider a sequel because its like something to the side about the world of Cars with planes. Oh, one more I thought of. Cinderella. There was the first one, the second one, and the third one which was technically the sequel. Thats all I can think of. They were pretty good. Oh one more. It never was made, but The Incredibles had a cliffhanger at the end of the first movie about the new bad guy, and they even made a DS game about it but I'm not sure if they ever made a movie. So yeah. Thats all I can think of, hope it helped.

I get pretty aggravated when I see people list PIXAR movies as Disney movies. When Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were made, PIXAR was a fully independent movie studio. The only connection to Disney was for distribution.

Disney had no hand in making PIXAR movies before 2006 when Disney purchased them. And even then, all the Pixar people are now in charge of all of Disney's animated features. These guys are giants and true pioneers....I'm talking about John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Standon, etc.

Don't give Disney credit for Pixar's hard work and innovation.
