Ever since Zayn Malik quit One Direction called off his engagement to long-time lady love Perrie Edwards and jetted off for that new life in LA, he seems to have been on a one man quest in search of an edgy af image.

Chances are he might just have achieved that one and despite having kept a pretty low profile over the last couple of months (except for the odd Twitter spat, that is), he\'s just made a fairly bold move, posting a very cosy looking pic of himself looking all fit and topless. That\'s not it though and he also happens to be embracing a blonde gal in the photo, who the internet seems pretty convinced is Gage Golightly off

If you can drag your eyes away from those super long lashes and bleached tips, you might notice just how handsy he and the-girl-who-might-be-Gage are getting.

Whether she\'s just a pal or something more, we all know this is going to kick off the dating rumours - it\'s just the way these things go - but you have to admit that it\'s rather curious that El Maliko decided to post this so publicly on his fancy new Insta.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? Is it all innocent or is it a bit of a pointed diss at Perrie? Does he want us all to know/think he and Gage-lookalike-girl are dating?

Maybe he just needed someone so he could pretend that massive tattoo of a blonde girl on his arm isn\'t of Perrie after all (WE JOKE WE JOKE).
