Chapter 23:As night fell over Toronto, Alex brought me to a downtown club called Time Nightclub. When we reached the velvet rope the man said to Alex "Oh you again, what is this the 10th time you've come here? Well go on in." We stepped inside and the blast of music was instant. They were playing some kind of electro-pop, the lights were vibrant shades of blue, green and pink. The couches in the lounge were tanned leather and surrounded by huge screens portraying various images.
" So you come here a lot?" I asked Alex.
"Ya well I'm a bit of a people watcher, plus sometime you just got to let lose" he replied giving me smile that flooded my dead body with warmth. He dragged me over to the dance floor where we dance, whipping around are heads and shaking are hips. I was so concentrated on Alex the scent of peoples blood wasn't even bothering me. Alex dragged me to the lounge were we talked and laughed, I had never had so much fun. I turned to Alex and gasped, behind him sitting on the couch was Jared. I guess I should have been expecting that, I killed Patrick, disobey Antonio and ran off with a human boy. I felt a familiar fear creep up. I wasn't sure if I had broken the blood loyalty and I was not sure is my mental strength was more than Antonio. I pushed Alex out of the was as Jared leaned for his neck. I had Jared against the wall, my hand on his throat. Alex was stuned but recovered much faster and drew a stake from his pant leg. That shouldn't have surprised me either but it did. I heard screams come from the dance floor.
"Alex peek outside, what's going on" I said. He pulled the curtain slightly to look.
"It looks like your buddies decided to crash the party, there herding everyone out of the building" he replied.
"So decided to come looking for me again, Jared?" I looked him dead in the eye. He smirked, like there was a joke I wasn't in on. I turned back to Alex as I saw Strygoi back Alex into a corner. Antonio, Drac, Hawthorn and Lust followed. Antonio was stone faced, making it hard to read him. He gave me an acknowledging nod, he surveyed the scene before him, me and Jared and Alex and Strygoi.
"Are stalking me now Antonio? You know it's called an unhealthy obsession" I said to Antonio.
"Well you temporarily broke the blood loyalty bond so I really had no choice. Your feelings for this human are becoming quite an inconvenient. Perhaps it would be easier if, Strygoi" he turned to Stryogi. He descended on Alex, but Alex pulled out a crucifix with a sharpened point. Strygoi recoiled to the other end of the room, brushing his blue gelled and streaked hair in frustration. Antonio played with his black jewel earrings, clearly feeling at a disadvantage.
"Did I mention Alex is a descendent from The Royal family. He is also a fast learner." I gave Alex a wink. Jared was struggling to get out of my grasp but I was a vampire much longer than him, I was much stronger.
"Fang, I'm done making deals with the likes of you. Why don't you put Jared down and let's just talk" Antonio said to me. I didn't move.
"Let me rephrase that, put Jared down now." The all too familiar stab of knives started again.
