So you have the materials, but don't know where to start? Lol, I can totally sympathize. I was in the same place a few years ago. It can be very intimidating at first. The possibilities are endless! What to do?

Before you go crazy, here are just a few things to keep in mind:

1) Before you start, organize your stuff. Find good, easy places to keep all your materials. If possible, split them into groups - get all your fancy scissors in one spot, put all the Christmas stickers together, all the birthday stickers together, put plain paper in one place and patterned paper in another, etc. That's half the battle right there.

It also helps to organize your photos and trinkets; whether it's by category or chronological date. Whichever works for you. Organizing everything will make you feel good and help you brainstorm about what kind of project you'd like to do.

2) Don't try to cram EVERY sticker and photo and whatnot onto one page. Quality is more important than quantity. Don't get overwhelmed by all the stuff you have, and try not to clutter. When in doubt, think KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. =)

3) When trying to decide on what you want to put on your page, try to coordinate things. For best results, pick colors that will complement the photos you want to use. Scrapbooking can be a fun and wonderful form of art if you let it.

That's all the advice I can think of right now. Hope it helped! Good luck, and have fun!

Remember: a scrapbooking page is based around A SPECIAL PHOTOGRAPH/ITEM OF YOUR OWN that you want to celebrate/keep forever. So start with that item.

Put your special item in the centre of your (currently blank) scrapbooking page. Now look at your item. What is the theme? If it's a picture of you and a friend on a beach holiday, that's the theme. So you could begin by decorating around your special item with SCRAPBOOKING ITEMS TO DO WITH BEACHES/BEACH HOLIDAYS. A sticker of a beach ball, a 'finding' reading 'Wish you were here'. In fact, if you can choose your background paper, choose something that also matches your item - eg a 'beach' theme paper for your special beach holiday picture.
