How I Met Your Mother Battle of the episodes.

Saul_Mikoliunas posted on Apr 07, 2008 at 10:22PM
Ok so basically you go through all of the first episode from season 1, 2 and 3 and decide which one winsm then the second episodes etc =D
So the pilot episode.
Ted meets Robin and Marshall and Lily get engaged. Ted tells Robin he loves her on their first date and blows it.
Season Two Premiere
The gang tries to help Marshall get over Lily, especially when he finds a credit card bill that leads to a hotel in New York City.
Season Three Premiere
When Robin shows up with a new boyfriend, Ted decides he is ready to hit the town with Barney. Enrique Iglesias guest stars as Gael, Robin's new lover and Mandy Moore guest stars as Amy, a tattooed party girl Ted hooks up with while out on the town. Marshall also calls Barney and shows him he has 55 days until his next slap.

Obviously I loved the first episode, it is where it all started but I just loved the second season premiere. It was actually the first episode I ever watched and I thought the whole Marshall punching a stranger thing was just so funny! I didn't think the season 3 premiere was as funny as it could have been (I also though Mandy Moore was crap to behonest!)

So to sum up the best episode number one of a season for me was the season two permiere =D

I hope all of that made sense, I'm very tired right now =D

I think comparing all 'firsts', the season 3 premiere is best. I loved male Gayle/Kyle and Barney's list on or in which vehicles you can have sex and a surf board is not among them : D

All firsts....let me see..thats hard...I think I'll go with the Pilot.

OK all number 2s...
Purple Giraffe S1
The Scorpion and the Toad S2
We're not from here S3- oh i just realised that I can make this window bigger :) silly me never noticed that before...anyway

Its definately Season 1 no doubt about it..I dont even have to think!
Its cute...Ted is funny at being casual- and buying dip..Marshall and Lily are all over each other (thats always cute) and Barney is being Barney :)

Season 2 Lily and Marshal are seperated :( and the first time i saw this episode I actually started hating Barney. i know that we later see that theres a bigger picture but when I watched it for the first time:grrrrrrrr!

Season 3 uhm yeah..I dont like single ted without a plan..and I didnt appreciate Lily and Marhall not being loyal toward Ted and going on the double date with Gael and Robin.

They all have their moments and good lines- but Season 1 Purple Giraffe is without doubt the winner for me

I think your confusing the first two eps of S3, Germany. The first one was with the double date ; ) The second was with Robin becoming sick of Gael

That's a tough one. I don't like 'The Scorpion and the Toad' that much either. I think for me it's S1 and S3. We have the three awesome parties in 'The Purple Giraffe' and then Ted and Barney as 'out-of-towners' in S3. I love Barney and Ted going out but I think the first season's ep was too cute Ted trying to win Robin's heart. So, I go with 'The Purple Giraffe'.
over a year ago germany123 said…
yeah youre right.. it just sort of added to the whole: i just dont like Gael thing ;)

I'm going to have to go with season 2-The Scorpion and the toad. I loved the whole Lily being happy and then you see her again and she is saying "ask about Marshall. How's Marshall? What's Marshall doing? Say something about Marshall" LOVED IT.

The number three's.
Season 1-Sweet Taste Of Liberty
Ted and Barney end up flying to Philadelphia after using one of Barney's techniques of picking up women. While in Philly, the two end up doing something legendary.

Season 2-Brunch-This episode, which deals with each of the three parts of the story lines separately before meshing them together for the final scene, deals with Ted and Robin's failed brunch with the Mosby parents (Michael Gross, Cristine Rose), during which Ted learns of his parent's divorce.

Season 3-Third Wheel-Ted bumps into Trudy (the girl who snuck out Ted's bedroom window in "The Pineapple Incident"). While on a date with her, her sorority sister Rachel shows up and acts very interested in Ted.

I'm going to have to go with Third Wheel. Although licking the liberty bell was LEGENDARY, I just love Trudy. I wish she was the mother =D

I definately have to pick Sweet Taste of Liberty. It's one of my favorite episodes. I liked Third Wheel though but I think it's not as awesome as SToL : D

for me its brunch..loved the structure of the episode
well that settles it: we all agree :D

S1 - Return of the Shirt: Ted found an ugly shirt he hasn't been wearing for a long time. This made him come up with the idea dating girls from the past. He got together with Natalie again. Robin realizes that no one is interested in her show. So she decides to say crazy things which Barney tells her to.

S2 - Ted Mosby, Architect: Barney tells Ted that girls would be more attracted to him by saying that he is an architect with more confidence. Robin thinks Ted is cheating on him.

S3 - Little Boys: Robin dates a guy with a child. Ted finds it impossible to have sex with a woman he knows that Barney slept with a year ago.

I thought Little Boys was funny. I liked Robin and the kid, but I kinda didn't like the Ted and Barney story. S1 was one step backwards for Ted. I loved Barney/Robin though. I have to go with Season 2 because this was just awesome. We saw a jealous side of Robin who was actually tricked into it by Lily. Also Barney's letter to Anna was hilarious : D

Definitely 'Ted Mosby, Architect' I love that episode: Barney's letter, jealous Robin and cute scene with Ted and Robin at the end

ha ha ha - ted found an ugly shirt...
uhm season 3 for me..not because of the storyline but again I just loved the form- lil barney all over that girl..hilarious. Though i have to admit watching "ted mosby architect" for the first time is cool too..i didnt get it ;)
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
Yeah I had to mention the ugly shirt. It really is : D
over a year ago Saul_Mikoliunas said…
Return of the shirt was funniest because of the Barney/Robin bets, The Barney letter in Ted Mosby:Arquitect was hilarious and to be honest I didn't really like Little Boys. It is a tie for me between s1 and s2. Ok Coin flipping time.
Ted Mosby:Arquitect wins it on the coin flip!

Okay Awesome:Ted and Barney go to a club to pick up women, while Lily and Marshall, in an attempt to be grown-ups, host a dinner party at the apartment for a group of couples.
World's Greatest Couple:Lily wakes up in Barney's bed. Marshall hangs out with "Brad", to Ted and Robin's amusement.
How I Met Everyone Else-When Ted's new girl becomes jealous because the story of how he and his pals met is better than the story of how she and Ted met, her ranking on Barney's "crazy scale" skyrockets.

World's Greatest Couple wins hands down for me. I loved the Lily/Barney storyline and I love the Marshall/Brad storyline. It was just awesome =D

Special mentions to the hot/crazy scale in 305 and Marshall's dancing in 105 =)

All three episodes are great actually. I also have to go for 2.05. Barney and Lily were hilarious. I just love to see them together : )

I really can't decide! I love all of the episodes!!!
The first season had Marshall dancing and the problem with his teeth, Barney grinding with his cousin and the screaming in the cab in the end that I adore! Oh and the geeks outside

Season 2 had Lily/Barney, Barney's house and the women repellent and Marshal/Brad which made me laugh so hard!

Season 3 had the hot/crazy scale, all of them telling how they met each other, Marshal, Lily and Ted eating a sandwich in their reunion and my favorite part Robin talking about her relationship with Ted "You guys dated? For how long? A year... but don't worry the relationship wasn't that good. By the end, it was mostly about sex... which was not that good. But I was the problem, I just lie there. Ted is very good, I'm sure he will get you where you need to go."

s1-Slutty Pumpkin-Ted waits around at a Halloween rooftop party at his apartment building for a girl dressed as a slutty pumpkin, whom he met at the same party years before.

s2-Aldrin Justice-While Barney makes it his job to satisfy Marshall's disgruntled law professor (Jane Seymour), Lily goes to work for Ted's architecture company and tries to teach Ted's big boss (Bryan Cranston) a big lesson.

s3-I'm Not That Guy-When a corporate law firm courts Marshall, lawyer Jeff Coatsworth wins him over, forcing him to let go of his dream of saving the earth in favor of the almighty dollar. Guest star John Cho.

I have to say that season 3 wins easily for me. I loved John Cho and everything that the evil corporate firm did to get Marshall. Although Aldrin Justice had some great Lily moments and Slutty Pumpkin had some great barneyisms, s3 is the winner for me =D
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
'Aldrin Justice' has always been a least favorite episode. I don't like Bryan Cranston's character at all. It may have been nice to see him once or twice, but I think this ep was too much focused on him.

John Cho was great in the season 3 ep and I'd like him to see again though we know Marshall's going to turn his back on the corporate world. Eventually I have to say this one wasn't as strong enough for me. I'm in favor of 'Slutty Pumpkin'.

oh..you can only enlarge this in safari...ok moving on"Matchmaker"

S1 Ted goes to a matchmaker who guarantees that her computer can find a person's soul mate in three days. Lily and Marshall discover the "Cockamouse," a combination of a cockroach and a mouse.

S2 "Swarley" aka Crazy Eyes Marshall goes on his first real date post-Lily, Ted and Barney try to convince him the girl is crazy.

S3 "Dowisetrepla" When Lily and Marshall decide to buy an apartment, not only do they make every mistake in the book, but Marshall also discovers Lily's dirty little financial secret when they apply for a loan.

Season 2..I mean Swarley,Crazy Eyes,Lily and Marshall reunite....Its gotta be 2
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
I agree with Germany and say Swarley... Oh God, I wish they would bring this awesome name up again...
over a year ago Saul_Mikoliunas said…
Swarley hands down. The Lily/Marshall reunion was just.......my favourite moment ever. I love Marshily. They have to be the best couple on television. Add Swarley and crazy eyes to that and it is a contender for best episode EVER.
over a year ago inespinto said…
It has to be Swarley, it has everything we like: Barney, crazy theories and of course Marshall and Lily! Oh and I love how Ted says " The eyes (hand gesture) they're crazy!)

Alright, next...

S1 - 'The Duel': Lily moves in with Ted and Marshall. Ted starts to worry that the apartment changes to much with Lily living there. He and Marshall fight with the famous tacky swords over the apartment because they have to decide who can stay after Lily and Marshall got married. Also, Barney comes up with the legendary Lemon Law.

S2 - 'Atlantic City': Lily and Marshall try to avoid all the stress they will have again with the wedding and elope to Atlantic City.

S3 - 'Spoiler Alert': The guys ruin Ted's impressions of his new girlfriend by telling him that she talks too much. But she is not the only one who has a flaw...

Again I like all eps, but only one can make it for sure. 'The Duel' was great with Barney's Lemon Law and also the sword fight made this ep hilarious.
I liked 'Atlantic City' because Marshall and Lily decided to have a real wedding in the end, very romantic.
'Spoiler Alert' was also very funny. However, I pick 'The Duel', because I like the Lemon Law so much : )
over a year ago germany123 said…
yiphee lemon law :)
but ill actually go with s3. I love the glass shattering realizations..and esp in the end when they all fight but forget all when marshall remembers his password. awwwwwww
over a year ago Saul_Mikoliunas said…
Haha and I am going to be awkward and go with s2. Although my pick is really only because of Marshall and Lily. They just make such a cute couple and I still laugh when I see the "UNPRONOUNCE US!!" scene and when future Ted says "And that's the story of how your aunt Lily and uncle Marshall were married for twelve seconds"
Love it =D

s1-Belly Full Of Turkey-It's Thanksgiving, and Lily goes to meet Marshall's family of giants while wondering if she is pregnant. Robin and Ted decide to spend Thanksgiving volunteering at a soup kitchen, and get a big surprise when they arrive.

s2-Slap Bet-When Robin refuses to go to the mall, Marshall and Barney propose a slap bet. Marshall thinks it's because she's married, while Barney thinks she was in porn.

s3-Slapsgiving-As Lily and Marshall host their first Thanksgiving as a married couple, Barney is tortured by the tick-tock of the Slap Bet countdown clock and the certainty of the exact moment the slap is going to be delivered. Meanwhile, Ted and Robin try to settle their feelings for each other when she brings an older suitor to Thanksgiving with her.

Poor s1, it has no chance up against two slapping episodes =D As a Massive Robin/Cobie fan, I have to choose s2-Slap bet. Let's go to the mall is just legendary and I love the whole Ted trying to trick Robin into admitting she isn't married.
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
Somehow it's getting harder to pick one... Again I like all three eps. The 1st Thanksgiving episode was great with Marshall's family (btw, am I the only one who thinks they're hilarious?) and Robin and Ted thinking Barney's a good person : D

Well, I have to Ted-out about Slapsgiving again, and this makes me realize it was only so great because of Marshall's song and the 3rd slap.

Now I have to opt for Slap Bet. Robin's big secrect gave the show something really special I think.
over a year ago germany123 said…
yeah S2 i have to say...that conversation between ted and robin is hilarious..
and robin sparkles was...i have no words!

s1-The Pineapple Incident-Barney, Marshall, and Lily get Ted to take shots. The next day, he wakes up with no memory of that night's events, an unknown woman (Danica McKellar) in his bed, and a pineapple on his nightstand.

s2-Single Stamina-Barney invites his gay, black brother James (Wayne Brady) to "liven" up the gang's life as all of them have been 'coupled' off and Barney is alone. James is an exact duplicate of Barney- except gay. It is soon revealed, however, that James is going to get married to his partner Tom. Barney does not approve...not of gay marriage, but of marriage as a whole.

s3-After everyone joins a gym, Barney sees his "first" there and loses his ability to approach women upon learning that his performance with her, which began his streak of sexual conquest and confidence, was poor. After his attempts at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show party go awry, Barney feels he needs a rematch.Wayne Brady also guest stars.

See when I was going through the episodes I thought Pineapple incident! It's AMAZING. Then I saw Single Stamina and I thought oh my gosh Wayne Brady was AMAZING and then I saw The Yips and I though Oh my gosh...that episode was ok, Wayne Brady was good in his little cameo and the man eaters euphemisms were funny.

I think for me it is a tie between s1 and s2. I still want to know about the pineapple and drunk Ted was sooooo much funnier than sober ted but Wayne Brady was just...awesome in s2. Yeah, tie for me.

S1 the limo-
They spend New Year in a limo Ted rented trying to hit up five big parties and ring in the New Year at the best one.

S2 how lily stole x-mas
Harsh words between Ted and Lily nearly ruin the gang's Christmas. Barney catches a cold.

S3 platinum ruleTed asks his doctor on a date and his friends try to discourage him from going out with someone he sees regularly recalling their own horror stories of bad experiences.

definitely s2 for me...barney and robin..outchy in my mouth- lily and ted..awwwww- marshall going crazy over winter wonderland- everyone singing

platinum rule was ok- because i thought the whole "dont poop where you eat" thing is relatable. limo..meh- except for the ted and robin moment which was kinda cute
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
I also go with S2... It's the definite highlight of the three. I like the Lily and Ted moment : )
