Saphira (pronounced "suh-FEAR-uh"), also known as Saphira II (used by fans to distinguish between the two dragons named "Saphira" in the books, the other being the dragon formerly bonded with Brom), Flametongue by the Urgals, and Bjartskular (meaning "Brightscales" in the Ancient Language) by the elves, was the only female dragon known to exist during the time of Eragon II, aside from Eldunari. She was bonded to Eragon Shadeslayer as her Dragon Rider after her egg was rescued by the Varden's agents from the clutches of Galbatorix, and was transported to the Spine by Arya, where Eragon found the egg. She was trained by Glaedr.

Eragon is a fifteen-year-old boy who lives with his uncle Garrow and cousin Roran on a farm near the village of Carvahall. While hunting in the Spine, Eragon is surprised to see the blue dragon egg, which he believes to be a stone, appear in front of him. A few months later, Eragon witnesses a baby dragon hatch from the egg. Eragon names the Dragon Saphira. He raises the dragon in secret until two of King Galbatorix's servants, the Ra'zac, come to Carvahall looking for the egg. Eragon and Saphira manage to escape by hiding in the Spine, but Garrow is fatally wounded and the house and farm are burned down by the Ra'zac. Once Garrow dies, Eragon is left with no reason to stay in Carvahall, so he goes after the Ra'zac, seeking vengeance for the destruction of his home and his uncle's death. He is accompanied by Brom, an elderly storyteller, who provides Eragon with the sword Zar'roc and insists on helping him and Saphira.
Eragon becomes a Dragon Rider through his bond with Saphira. Eragon is the only known Rider in Alagaësia other than Galbatorix, who, with the help of the now-dead Forsworn, killed the Riders a hundred years ago. On the journey, Brom teaches Eragon sword fighting, magic, the ancient language, and the ways of the Dragon Riders. Their travels bring them to the city of Teirm, where they meet with Brom's friend Jeod. Eragon's fortune is told by the witch Angela, and her companion, the werecat Solembum, gives Eragon some mysterious advice. With Jeod's help, they are able to track the Ra'zac to the southern city of Dras-Leona. Although they manage to infiltrate the city, Eragon encounters the Ra'zac in a cathedral and he and Brom are forced to flee. Later that night, their camp is ambushed by the Ra'zac. A stranger named Murtagh rescues them, but Brom is gravely injured. Saphira suggests to take Brom on one last dragon ride to die with pride as a dragon rider, then soon after, Brom dies.

Who is Eragon:
Eragon is the protagonist of the Inheritance Cycle. He is also known as Eragon Shadeslayer, Argetlam, Shur'tugal, Firesword and Kingkiller. Eragon is the son of Selena and Brom. Eragon is the cousin of Roran Garrowsson. He was raised as a farm-boy for fifteen years under the care of his uncle Garrow. Then, a few months before his sixteenth birthday, the last female dragon in Alagaësia, Saphira, hatched for him.

For the answer to the question, Eragon is a fifteen-year-old, poor farm boy who lives/lived with his uncle Garrow and his cousin Roran in Carvahall, which is in Palancar Valley. One day (on a hunting trip in the Spine) he finds a mysterious blue object which he believes to be a stone. The stone happens to be an egg, one of the three know eggs in Galbatorix's control. When the egg hatches for Eragon, he names it after Brom's old dragon, Saphira.
Then, Eragon and Brom travel to find the Varden, who later on train Eragon in being a dragon rider. During the Battle of Farthen Dur, Eragon kills the Shade Durza, becoming the few to survive doing so. He then earns the title of Shadeslayer. Other names for him include Eragon, Shadeslayer, Argetlam, Firesword and Dragon Rider. After the Agaeti Blodren, Eragon heals from the scar Durza gave him during the Battle of Farthen Dur, before Eragon killed him. Although Eragon loves Arya, she does not love him in return, knowing one will live one when the other perishes into the void.
During the other books, Eragon manages through many battle and sieges. Surviving all of them, Eragon decided to battle Galbatorix once and for all. And after a long fight with evil king, Eragon perishis him and Galbatorix's evil rein ends and Alagaesia is at peace once again. That is who Eragon is.
