Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
The Brotherhood Continues to Be a Problem – Person of Interest – Season 4 Episode 4 – “Brotherhood”
Last week we saw John and the team resuming their work of watching out for those numbers that the Machine provides them. Granted, times have changed now, thanks to Samaritan, and John and the team are forced to become more creative in how they protect those whose numbers come up.
This week we see John resuming his work on taking down the ‘Brotherhood’ and where their leader, Dominic might be. He visited Elias to see if he could shed some light on the situation but he has not been much help as of yet.
The Brotherhood meets up with the Armenians to conduct a drug deal and it seems something goes south as we see the deal go down in a barrage of gun fire.
Harold contacts John and tells him they have received two new numbers, Tracy and Malcolm Booker, a brother and sister who are only children. Their mother is in prison at Rikers, their father is deceased, and they have been placed in separate foster homes and are only able to connect at school.
John begins trying to track Tracy down but she doesn’t seem to be at school. Shaw has confirmed that Malcolm has not shown up for school either. John gets creative and finds a lead on Tracy and begins retracing the route the kids take to school each morning. It turns out the path took the kids right past the crime scene where the Brotherhood drug deal went bad.
John checks the scene out and meets DEA agent, Lenox. She explains to John that the deal involved the Brotherhood and the Armenians. They found the all the participants, who have all been killed except for one member of the Brotherhood who is being treated on scene for a gunshot wound. They DEA also found the drugs meaning the only thing missing from this scene is the drug money.
Malcolm and Tracy have the money and are on the run. Finch has found the two siblings purchasing clothes at a high end store. He tries to tail them but Malcolm spots Finch and creates a distraction allowing the kids to disappear.
John tells Agent Lenox about the kids and she has a BOLO put out on the two siblings. Finch meets with Elias on the subway. Elias realizes that Finch needs him to play mediator between the Brotherhood and the Armenians in order to buy them time to save the kids. Elias explains that he can help with the Armenians but he won’t be able to do much on the Brotherhood. Elias also tells Finch that he knows something has changed in how Finch and his team are doing business, and he wants to know what has happened. Finch is unable to provide him with answers.
John heads back to the police station where Agent Lenox is waiting for him. Lionel tells John that the Brotherhood lieutenant he arrested, Link, has been sprung out of jail. John tells him he will look into it and goes on to talk with Lenox. She tells John that the DEA believes the Brotherhood has a mole within their agency. She lets John know that they have found out the kids bought a cell phone and are trying to track down the serial number so they can trace it. John gives this information to Finch so he can begin his own attempt at tracing the kids through their phone.
Shaw gains access to the ambulance that was carrying the Brotherhood member who was shot at the drug deal scene. His name is ‘Mini’ and Shaw wants him to give up Link’s location or she will have to get drastic with him. He gets her the information on Link and she takes him with her.
John has tracked the kids down and it looks like they are headed for a law office. While they are in the parking garage the Brotherhood show up and take some shots on the kids who run. Shaw is able to hold them off when she plows an SUV into the Brotherhood’s vehicle. John intercepts the kids with Lenox and they get off the streets.
John takes the kids and Lenox to a penthouse that was a crime scene from one of his cases the week prior. He tells them they will be safe here for now. Lenox discusses the drug deal with the kids. She explains that they will need to make a statement and return the money. The kids don’t want to give up the money as they need it to get their mom out of jail. Malcolm tells John and Lenox that their mom was jailed for having an unregistered weapon but she never fired it or used it. They wanted to get a good lawyer to help her get out of jail. Lenox tells them that this is not the way, but the kids refuse to give up the money.
Shaw has Mini in a secret location and is trying to get information from him on who Dominic is and where they can find him. Mini is not talking and Shaw uses some reverse psychology to get Mini thinking. Shaw explains that she will get him out of town if he helps her, but Mini is not being cooperative.
Back at the penthouse, Lenox tries to keep Tracy calm by letting her play with her cell phone, while John talks to Malcolm. He is able to convince Malcolm that this is not the way to take care of his family and he needs to cooperate. Malcolm writes down where the money is and asks John to please keep his sister safe, no matter what happens. John passes the information to Lenox who says the DEA will pick the money up and she heads out promising to return with backup.
After a while Malcolm is wondering what is taking so long, when John gets a call from Lionel. He may have a lead on what he thinks is Dominic’s cell phone. The number had been found on the phone records of one of the Brotherhood’s members. John dials the number and Lenox’ phone, that Tracy still has, begins to ring. John realizes that Lenox is the mole! He tells Fusco to send backup, and to be quick because John sees that the Brotherhood has found them.
We see that Lenox has found the money and John knows that Lenox is out to keep the money because she left her cell phone with Tracy so she couldn’t be tracked. The Brotherhood is closing in on John and the kids. John takes the kids and starts making his way out of the building.
Shaw has gotten Mini worked up enough that she thinks he may be angry enough to confront Dominic. She plants a tracking device on him and then walks away giving Mini the opportunity to escape and play right into Shaw’s hands.
John is trying to get the kids out of the building when Malcolm confesses to John that the unregistered gun his mom went to jail over was really his and his mom took the fall for him. John tells Malcolm that he will get a chance to make it right. John and the kids are intercepted by the Brotherhood but Fusco shows up to save the day, but more Brotherhood have showed up. John tells Malcolm to take his sister and hide. When Fusco hears Tracy crying they realize that Malcolm has left.
Malcolm approaches the Brotherhood’s vehicle and talks to Link. He asks for Link to take him and spare his sister’s life. He agrees to work for Link and do whatever he needs. Link has him get in the car and is about to take off when John steps in front of the car.
John tells Link he has his money and wants to trade for Malcolm. Link lets Malcolm out of the car but warns him that he will be seeing him. John gets in the car and they leave.
Shaw has caught up with Mini at a laundromat. Shaw secures Mini and then begins looking for where they hide their drugs and she hits the jackpot. Back in Link’s vehicle, they discover that John was bluffing about having his money when he sees a bag full of newspaper and not money. John tells Link that Lenox has taken off with his money. John’s phone rings and it is Shaw. John puts her on with Link and Shaw explains that he needs to let John go or he will be watching his drugs go up in smoke along with his boy, Mini. Link agrees and releases John and Shaw leaves the laundromat and Mini behind.
Tracy and Malcolm are back at school and John checks in on Malcolm. He lets him know that he made some calls and he was able to get Malcolm and his sister placed in the same foster home so they will be together. He also got him a lawyer to help him get his mom out of jail. It seems all may end well for Tracy and Malcolm.
Elias meets with Finch again on the subway. Finch hands Elias a book and tells him that he may not be able to provide him with answers on what has changed but he can give him a tool to help him navigate this new world, so to speak. He also gives Elias the location of the laundromat the Brotherhood have been operating out of and hopes that Elias will reach out if he acquires any information on who Dominic is.
Mini is picked up by Link. We see that Link has found Lenox as she is sitting in the back of the vehicle. It turns out that Mini is actually Dominic, and we know this for sure when he turns around and shoots Lenox. It seems Shaw had Dominic the whole time and didn’t even know it. He tells Link to find Malcolm’s mom and get her out of jail and make sure he knows it was them that did it for him. Dominic thinks his organization could use someone like Malcolm. It looks like Malcolm may have further trouble ahead and I am sure this is not the last we have heard of the Brotherhood.
Be sure to tune in next week to see what lies in store for John and the team!
