We've all seen the Fanpop Spotlight tabs. That little display area on the homepage that let us know about the latest celebrity gossip, new television episodes, and upcoming movies. But ever since joining Fanpop, i've always wondered why the Spotlight is just limiting itself to popular visual media. Why should television, movies, and actors just get noticed. Congratz, you have oficially stumbled upon my idea for more Spotlight Tags!

Music - Celebrities
Who just released a new single or won at the Music Awards? Who is starring in an upcoming movie? What's something scandalous a celebrity did at the club last might? Many could argue that the "Hot Topics" tab could pretty much cover all of this. But for those of us who are possibly-maybe-slightly OCD, it's another way to keep everything organized. The downside is that it would take more room, though.

Books
There's no way to describe how amazing it would be to have this tab. (To me at least^^) We could learn what book is being made into a movie, and what the top bestseller is! Not to mention when the newest book in a series is coming out. If that doesn't sound great, then I don't know what does!

Around The World
What better way to show Fanpop diversity than showing what's going on around the world. Maybe they could feature different countries or Holidays and events that are going on then! What discoveries were made lately and where?

Blast From The Past
Not really something important, but it would be something fun to feature. Famous movies from the past -Grease, The Goonies. What trends were popular back then and now coming back into style?

Okay, I know I haven't been the most active lately but I really feel like the abuse and bullying between members here is a real big push back for me. Every time I come on there is some sort of bullying happening in some spot. And I will be honest and say that it IS mainly the OTH type spots.

A perfect example of this? link. These comments happened 2 or so hours before I wrote this article, not months ago so it is a relevant thing. I don't care if you think I am pin pointing anyone because both sides in bullying count, not just the initiator.

"So look at what *name* said:

god she hates on people...

I almost said this on yet another Twilight pick in yet another irrelevant spot, but I felt that the user would feel targeted, when really this isn't about that individual user, it's about the Twilight fans in general.

I have heard from some Twilight fans (note: I said "fans" and not "fanatics" and in this case, there is a very large difference) that they are actually afraid to go into the Twilight Spot anymore because of all the enthusiastic Twilight fanatics. Now that's OK. Fans (or fanatics) of any topic can be as crazy as they want within the confines of their own spot. House, One Tree Hill,...

It's so frustrating. You create a spot, or find a spot you like and add all sorts of content, yet nobody rates it. Days go by . . . weeks . . . nothing. Now, you have lots of fans, but do they know your spots or the content you've added? Are you familiar with your fans contributions?

Here's an idea. Look at your fans. Go their profiles and look at their activity. Check out what content they've added. You don't have to join the spot if you're not a true fan of the subject, but that shouldn't stop you from rating the content. Try to answer some of their quiz questions. Look over their links, videos, and/or images. Rate what you see. Make it a monthly event. Choose one day each month and on that day choose one of your fans and rate his or her activity.

By exploring your fans' activities you'll help them as well as find out more about them. Who knows, you may learn something new and perhaps find something new of which you can be a fan.

I know you folks are tired of hearing about crediting images. I'm not here to beat that into your head yet again. I've already done that... and I continue to do it in comments on your images when you forget.

No. This time I am here to give you a helpful tip. A lot of you have paid attention and are now putting a credit on your images. Thank you for that! The problem now is a lack of film knowledge, which is very forgivable.

You see, when it comes to movies, forget what I said earlier about crediting the website you got the image from if you can't find the actual owner of the image. With movies,...

It has come to my attention that my gift for words has been failing me miserably these past few days. What I mean to impart is coming off as bitchiness rather than humerous or helpful.

For that, I want to apologize. Especially to Harold, who works hard for this site and didn't deserve to feel like he was under attack at all. I'm an idiot. I would offer to smooch and make up, but I'm too old to be getting beat up by anyone's wife...

Now, having said that, I am going to go over a few things that might be responsible for this mood lately. I simply feel like I am banging my head against the wall...

When I first clicked onto Fanpop, I felt like something was a little different. It wasn't like MySpace or YouTube (not that I have anything against the people who use them), where I normally get the feeling that people I don't know are looking at my profile. I felt like I could message the users on here and not get a rude or creepy message back. I could comment, rate, and make picks without anyone (besides the occasional bad-mannered user) commenting on my own opinions. I could add things and feel really great when someone else gave me props or commented on how thankful they were for that item. And, I am so glad that fanpop has stayed this way! I feel so comfortable on here and only know 4 other fanpoppers in real life. I just wanted to compliment all of the wonderful users on how great they are on making this an awesome site to be on! You are all part of the reason I am now very addicted to Fanpop!
