SJF_Penguin2 picked Ted Cruz:
(Poll created February 14, 2016. Voting will close on June 7, 2016.)

I have liked Ted Cruz for years. He is the consistent conservative. Conservatism and constitutionalism would form the foundation of a Cruz White House. He is the Reagan of our time. All other candidates force serious conservatives to compromise, and some of them to severely compromise. Among other things, Bush and Kasich are get-along moderates and amnesty supporters. Rubio damaged himself with conservatives by being part of the Gang of Eight amnesty push in 2013. Trump seems like a fighter on some things, but he has had a liberal past, is vague to moderate to inconsistent in the present, and no one knows what positions he will hold in the future, perhaps not even The Donald himself.

SJF_Penguin2, I have never seen anyone compare Ted Cruz to Ronald Reagan at all. What similarities do you see between the two?

This is my problem with conservatives and liberals (I'm independent), compromise is what America is supposed to be all about. How are we ever supposed to have progress if people are not ever willing to compromise and find a middle ground? That's why I want Donald Trump to win the Republican nomination and Bernie Sanders to win the Democrat nomination. They are the two most moderate and reasonable candidates to me that will actually unify America instead of worrying about their political party - which I see as far too reminiscent of gang mentality.

Jeb Bush is moderate maybe on immigration stances but what else? He is definitely not moderate when it comes to the environment, foreign policy, domestic policy, social issues or the economy. Immigration is the only policy is moderate on at all. Kasich is definitely more moderate than Jeb Bush but not when it comes to foreign policy, domestic policy and social issues.

Ronald Reagan had a liberal past too but became a conservative later in life so why is that held against Trump? I think it's pretty safe to say we know many of the positions that Donald Trump will hold in the future, especially if you read his book "The Art of the Deal".

Cinders picked John Kasich:
Kasich is my Republican homeboy since Rand Paul left. Shame he doesn't have a chance in hell.

Cinders, I agree with you about Kasich's chances and about Rand Paul being a 1st choice. I don't understand why the American people aren't gravitating towards Kasich though. Even in the first GOP debate I thought he had the best chance of anyone else on stage to go against Donald Trump.
