first hit Netflix in 2015, it\'s become arguably one of the most popular superhero TV series ever – at least on the Marvel side of things.
But while the latest adaptation of Marvel\'s story of vigilante Matt Murdock / Daredevil has gone from strength to strength, there\'s another version that didn\'t fare so well.
film, starring Ben Affleck as the hero, was received less than favourably by critics – and Charlie Cox, who plays the Netflix incarnation of Daredevil, reckons he knows where the movie went wrong.
. "When I watched the film I had two feelings. One – I thought Ben Affleck did a great job. I really liked his Matt Murdock. It was in keeping with the characters in the comics.
"The problem with the film was that the best
runs in print are geared toward a slightly more mature audience. He\'s not Spider-Man… not really a teenage superhero.
"That\'s where the film didn\'t quite work – it was a little too, dare I say, comic book-y for that character."
being famed for its dark and gritty take on the genre, many fans may agree with the actor.
recently dropped its much-anticipated third season on Netflix, with the new run introducing iconic comic villain Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) as Daredevil\'s latest adversary.
The new season also sees the return of Daredevil\'s arch-enemy Wilson Fisk / Kingpin (Vincent D\'Onofrio), as well as Matt\'s friends Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
One major character who was missing from the new season was nurse Claire Temple, with actress Rosario Dawson recently revealing that she was "done" with the character for now.
But Cox recently admitted that he\'d love Claire to return, saying: "I love Rosario. I mean, the fact that we got her on the show [at all] is unbelievable ... I\'d be thrilled to have her back. She\'s great."
Sadly we may not get to see Claire reunite with her on-off boyfriend Luke Cage in the near-future, as Netflix recently cancelled
The cancellation followed swiftly after the announcement that
has also been axed after two seasons – so does this mean that
Showrunner Erik Oleson has admitted that a fourth season is yet to be picked up but that he\'s hopeful one will be announced soon.
"I can tell you that I\'m very hopeful to go do a season 4. There has not yet been any kind of an official pick-up, but if there is, I\'m very hopeful that I will be a part of it," he said.
