Saturday Night Live\'s Cecily Strong Will Let You Eat Off Her Plate

“Weekend Update” co-anchor Cecily Strong spoke with us

about her love of cheese, her distaste for beets, and her generally “sensual” relationship with food. Cecily, we’ll eat pizza with you anytime.

One of those thin bagels with lox, and an iced tea.

Death row meal of choice. I make this super-garlicky pasta with red peppers, zucchini, and Parmesan. They probably wouldn’t let me make my own pasta on death row, but I would ask anyway.

Usually I’ll just eat popcorn, but if theaters would sell me goat cheese and garlic with Triscuit crackers, I’d give them all my money.

Extra-dirty vodka Martinis. They’re so easy to drink! I should really just drink olive juice; it’d be safer.

Beets. They look so appealing, and beet salads are so chichi, but I just can’t stand them.

I had the worst ones at the table. My mom would make a sandwich and then give me, like, an old pear. Other kids had chips and desserts. I’d take anything anyone was giving away.

I look like an ad for Poland Spring. I buy their raspberry-lime sparkling water five cases at a time.

Romaine or red leaf lettuce, lots of lemons, cucumber, always tomatoes. I mix fruits and vegetables so I have more room in the fridge for cheese.

Manchego, Drunken Goat, feta, Parmesan. I love so many cheeses. I like them hard and soft, I like cream cheese, I like cottage cheese…. I’m a true Midwesterner.

Anybody, really. I love to share food, especially if I made it or I’m particularly proud of what I ordered.

Wonderful! Very sensual. But also a little one-sided, because I gain weight. Food can be mean to me, but I love it anyway.

I’d like to be reincarnated as a French tart. They’re so beautiful and delicate—they’re like my opposite. I’m more of a comfort food: goat cheese with garlic.
