There was recently a storyline, a Marvel What If, in which Magneto became host of the Phoenix Force after Tony Stark attempted to make a device that would split the Phoenix Force, well in the storyline it didn't work and the Phoenix Force possessed Magneto, and he became the most powerful incarnation of the Phoenix too, White Phoenix of the Crown.
