I think by posting the links out in the openness of the links section will 1) curtail the volume that some users are asking to be rated on a daily basis, 2) will make sure that the ratings are a little fairer and 3) will maybe expose the people who are simply posting to the VRSOF for their own gain.

I'm still pretty sure that the main issue with that forum is the fact that people are posting links to only their own content. For example, someone posts a link saying "I have rated everything else here, but can someone rate my 5 pages of photos?", then 5 or 6 VRSOF members go rate those pages and that is unfair to other users in that spot who, while they have a rating, are not getting the full use of the VRSOF.

I have already seen a couple of people who regularly post in that forum be accused of medal whoring, and I kinda don't want the VRSOF to be associated with that, because the VRSOF is about giving people the ratings that they deserve when other Fanpoppers who don't rate have let them down. At this point, I am worried that the VRSOF will become a haven for medal whores and the VRSOF will be shut down, just like the other forums and spots that have been created in the past that promote medal whoring.

I use the links section and not the forum but I do check the forum every so often, but I am more apt to look at the link section. I though picked this option because people would have know excuse not to have read the guidelines of the club then...

i personally consider medal whoring to be when people ask a bunch of people to go rate there stuff when they just added it like a min ago or a few days ago .. that is why i think that the guidlines that are in place now are great... the time limit especially ... however i do disagree to some extent with some of the comments in the previous thread and this pick because I dont think it should be discouraged or a rule to not post links or comments asking for your own stuff to be rated ...

because for instance if you have something that is over 1 or 3 months old that has no ratings and you are constantly an active member of this spot helping fanpop by rating alot of things for other people then you too deserve to have somewhere to voice your stuff that needs ratings as well ...

If not , if instead you can only post stuff that you have noticed needs ratings in general... then you are stuck realing on other people to notice your stuff that is lacking ratings..to me that is not right..

I think that a new fourm with the guidlines posted at the top would be great! Also I would Encourage strongly in those guildlines to sugest to post not only your own stuff but stuff but also the thing you notice in general that needs ratings. I think that would clearify some things without losing a great part of what VRSOF is about!
