The vampire in twilight sparkle, they're fairies not vampires.

"Genre" means what type of show it is: drama, comedy, soap, or a mix of them all.

Genre means a type of anything. it's not exclusive to any spacific media or entertainment.

You're right, but this question refers to shows/movies.

And in the case of this question, it's still used wrong.

Genre: a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content, technique, or the like: the genre of epic poetry; the genre of symphonic music.

Vampires are not a form of artistic endeavor and therefore don't have genres.

Probably the ones in the story I'm working on right now, although the TVD ones are fine too, just not sold on the whole vampires that sparkle thing that Twilight has going.

Yes, wikipedia...

Yes, vampires are a form of artistic endeavor.
The adjective, artistic, means showing taste and skill.
The verb, endeavor, means to try or attempt.

So in other words, a genre is a class or category of a tasteful and skillful attempt at a particular form, content, technique, or the like.

These two stories have taken a tasteful (meaning subjective to personal taste) attempt on a particular form of vampire.
Have you ever heard of a "classic vampire"? classic is the genre of which many would include Dracula and Nosferatu.

Vampire movies are typically a sub-genre of horror films. Though neither of the options available in this pick are exactly horrific, the whole idea of their existence is still creepy.
link Wikipedia page speaks a lot about the vampire sub-genres, and the sub-genre's sub-genres.

You know, Cassie-1-2-3 can have her definition of genre, November99 can have hers.

I for one, don't see individual works as genres in themselves. Genres are specific styles to me, so Twilight is not a genre by itself, but "vampire romance" would be a genre, or "modern vampires" (both of which Twilight can belong to).
