By far - better written, better action vampires - just in a league of its own really. Have to be some of the best vampire novels ever written :)

I agree, I kinda have it stuck in my head that if anyone has read the vampire chronicles then twilight will seem incredibly feeble in comparison.

^well they are sorta feeble - jmo anyway. What Rice was do is allow the vampires oh I don't seem so real? They were flawed yet they weren't, tortured yet happy (at times), had to pay a price and accepted it. What Rice did was allow her characters to keep alot of human attributes in a supernatural world and enhanced the emotions using backstories - its simple yet so ingenius :)

Their 'special' abilities etc are always exciting to watch because unlike the Twilight vampires who seem to know everything about each other - in Rice's vampiress, they are continously learning about each other and themselves. As a reader that's great cz well ur not thrown in the deep end - u go on a journey with the vampires

the characters are just so much more realistic and they devolope throughout the whole series they are awesome books plus anne doesn't pull shit up from her ass like hybrid vampire baby impossible

The Vampire Chronicles win by a hundred thousand million plus points. If you've read The Vampire Chronicles, it makes Twilight look pathetic. (which it is in my opinion, but this isn't about that.)

I agree with what everything that has been said, i also like how the vampires in Anne Rice series are flawed and she celebrates that, their weaknesses and they grow from it and become a much better developed character than sparkly vampire wannabees who have way too many unbelieveable attributes and no such weaknesses that i find believeable.

You can't really compare the two series. For one thing Anne Rice's vampires are closer to the vampire nature we know. Second there is better character development throughout the series and the characters keep learning new things and sometimes realising they didn't know themselves as much as they thought. They drink human blood and they are sometimes resentful about it but they accept it because it is in their nature. Plus there are no stupid vampire babies like Renesmee involved. Anne Rice stayed true to vampires and the only way REAL vampires can reproduce is by turning humans into vampires... oh and these vampires actually have canines, they don't bite humans with all their teeth (that must hurt a lot)

Yeah, The Vampire Chronicals are way, way, way, way better. It's better written in every way and none of her words were used out of context like SM who used a lot of big words to make her characters sound intelligent, when really they sounded more like morons since all of the big words were used out of context. Also, the Vampire Chronicals is way better since it's not completly focused on a Nightmarish needy girl who's too blind to see anything outside of a guy and an insainly masicsitic, dominaring, self absorbed ass who sparkles...I can't believe you could actually even base a series off of something like that, but...SM sure did it.
