Vampires Question

Am I the only one humanxvampire relationships don't really make sense to?

Just to clarify this, I am not taking the Cullen creatures into consideration (that means the oooh-look-we-eat-animal-blood-thing) They aren't vampires, they're living discoballs -_-

If vampires natural prey are humans, then why would they feel empathy, let alone an attraction towards them? Arguing that some humans feel sorry for things they eat or choose no to eat them altogether doesn't really work for an argument. You can't tell me vegetarians and vegans are attracted to cows just because they don't want to eat them.

Don't get me wrong, I like a well written vampire romance just as much as the next person. I've just been thinking about this a lot lately and can't totally make sense of it. ^^'

The way it's always come across to me as is that the vampires are fascinated by humans. They're weaker, more fragile, and yet are still towards the top of the food chain. Humans think differently, feel differently, behave differently than vampires. They're warm (generally, vampires are cold) and alive. Humans are resourceful and adaptive and (again, generally) vampires tend to be unchanging.

Basically, it's for the same reason (only on the opposite spectrum) that humans are attracted to vampires.

Yep. I agree. I do enjoy vampire/human pairings... but there is that fact that in the end, all the vampire wants is food.

Even the Cullens. They'd kill Bella first chance the got.

Yes there was. Not called "vegenterian" (which by the way, makes no sense) but Louise from Interview with the Vampire ate rats, Stefan from Vampire Diaries ate forrest animals, and in Southern Vampire series, they drink a fake blood substitute.

Vampires were humans, so it makes sense that they could care about humans. Yes, they have to kill humans, but they understand that humans are intelligent. Some vampires are just cold killers, and others retain their sensitivity, and others are somewhere in between. And the eating thing can be sexualized in a sort of dominance/submission thing where the vamp likes having the power and the human likes giving up power/having power taken from them/living with the possibility of the vamp taking their power away.

That depends entirely on the depiction of vampires. Some vampires were born vampires such as in the marvel universe.
