How did the vampire get its name?

It is believed the word "vampir" came from the Serbians, was turned to French, and the English in the 18th century.

The Serbian word may have come from the old Slavic word "Upir" which first apeared in 1047 AD,

It came from Vlad the impaler.(I heard it on the history channel)
