Twilight Series Question

Can amyone help me?

In the book Bella always describes Alice or Edward's voice sounding like wind chimes or velvet or musical or trilling. And she describes Jane's voice as high and reedy. I don't get this description at all. Could someone please make a comparison or explain?

When she describes Edward's voice (like velvet) it means it's smooth and soothing and no cracks. When describing Alice's voice,(like wind chimes, musical) it means that her voice sounds like she's singing. When describing Jane's voice (high and reedy) it means she sounds like a child.
