Annett is the only daughter of Henry Grey, 4th Earl of Kent. She moved from her family, to get a place at the royal court. Her father send her recommendations to Edward Seymour, Lord protector of England.

Annett were given her own apartments at court,were she had only a few servants to help her.
Her tutor was Dr. John Dee, he tutored her science, Latin, and other useful things.

Annett has a close friendship with Edward Seymour's daughter Anne.
