Was Jake Ever Bound to the Circle?

Im reliving the magic since TSC got canceled :( And I began to notice that Jake did a lot of stand alone magic and he didnt have a crystal, so i thought was he ever bound to the circle like the rest of the coven?

They did say after Jake's brother's death that he was bound to the circle like the rest of them. I dont remember any stand alone magic. I know for a fact that Jake is and always will be till they unbound the circle that he was bound to the circle.

I can definitely remember stand alone magic, when he uses the witch jars as a witch hunter, and when he went through the fire in the episode Fire And Ice. But then they did say he'd be bound, effectively replacing his brother. It made me think he'd be the second Blackwell til they revealed that was Diana.
