I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The Flash Season One Episode Three- “Things You Can’t Outrun”
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
The Mist- The Flash Season One Episode Three- “Things You Can’t Outrun”
On this weeks episode of The Flash, the things that you can’t outrun include both a present day meta-human that can turn into a cloud of poison gas, as well as painful memories of the past that are impossible to forget.
This week deepened the character development of much of the main cast. We get to see many glimpses back to the night that the particle accelerator exploded. Caitlin’s late fiancé Ronnie was a hero that night, rerouting the path of the explosion to save the people of the city but sacrificing himself in the process.
Cisco was the one that shut the door on him, cementing his doom- an interesting plot twist for this seemingly happy-go-lucky character. Barry helps Caitlin deal with the memory of that night and commiserates with her on the pain of losing someone.
The need to create a place to hold the captured Meta-humans is what sparked all of the unpleasant memories this week. They have decided to turn the Star Labs particle accelerator into a makeshift prison.
This week’s metahuman, The Mist (Anthony Carrigan) was sentenced to the gas chamber on the night of the explosion, and rather than being killed by the gas, he gained the capability to become poison gas itself.
This role, (which could have been very corny) was actually very well acted on Carrigan’s part. In fact, he has been picked up by another new superhero show Gotham, to play the villain Victor Zsasz.
Barry faces The Mist two times in the episode, the first time he ends up inhaling some of the poison gas, but makes it back to the lab in time to have the gas extracted. The second time, he essentially outruns him, as gas is a very hard state to stay in. Once The Mist solidifies back into a man, Barry knocks him out.
In yet another surprising twist regarding Dr. Wells, we see that he may have planned the explosion. In one of the flashbacks, it seems like he was plotting the creation of Barry and perhaps even other the metahumans too. Is Wells a villain?
This episode also brings us the first metahuman experience for Barry’s father outside of the initial murder scene. He is visited in prison by Detective West, who promises to get him out of jail. He tells him that new evidence has been brought to light, but doesn’t go into details. Barry’s father thanks him for his devotion to his son.
Just as they are having a very deep and touching moment, The Mist comes into the visitation room and tries to kill West. West was the detective who put him in jail in the first place. Barry gets there in the nick of time, delivering an antiserum to West, and it seems that Barry’s father almost recognized his son. Barry is able to disguise his face by moving rapidly, but it seemed like he was recognized anyway.
What will next week bring? Make sure to tune in and find out!
