I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Suicide Squad Concept Art Shows New Looks for Enchantress & Katana
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
wasn’t the unquestioned critical hit that Warner Bros. likely hoped for after the polarizing
, but it still managed to pull in a healthy $738M at the worldwide box office. Bolstered by the star power of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and a neon-gritty style all its own, the Suicide Squad may have been the “worst heroes ever,” but they’ve still left a sizeable footprint in the growing superhero genre.
Fanboys have long debated whether the personalities in the DCEU are appropriate adaptations of the heroes and villains of the DC Universe. While this discussion has naturally continued to the supervillains of
, (especially concerning The Joker), there’s no denying that director David Ayer’s (
) visual take is an interesting variation on the comic book movies that have come before.
Naturally, when an iconic look is completely reimagined, you don’t always get it right on the first try. Spotted by
on his personal site. These include alternate costumes for Katana, Enchantress, Incubus, and the mindless horde of zombified humans that the Squad faces (The Eyes of the Adversary).
The common unifying factor between these alternate designs? They nearly all show less skin than what was used in the final film. (Even for Incubus, who has a recognizably human face in the movie.) The most obvious reason for passing on some of these could have been the age old adage that “sex sells.” Then again, as cool as some of The Enchantress’ “god armor” final forms are here, it could be that she simply looks so different from actress Cara Delevingne’s character June Moone. This could have led to concerns that audiences would forget their sympathy for the innocent archeologist, possessed by the ancient evil demonic force.
Do you prefer any of these designs over what we saw in theaters this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section, and stay tuned to Screen Rant for updates on the DCEU as they hit.
