When the Red Devil(s) get knocked out, why don't any of the characters lift up the mask?

I think it is a horror genre cliche that people don't remove masks, and if they do, it is because it is not the real killer under the mask at the time. For example, the guy who got blown up had his mask removed, but he was not a Red Devil killer.
