I believe Charles loves his children, he just doesn't know how. Since he is always at work and its his number one prioity he lost touch with them. I also think the reason why he works all the time was because of his first son Michael hanging himself in his office. And thats the way he can mask his pain. He probably feels guilty that he lead Michael to his death because he made him give up his music. Now hes to afraid to connect, control or become close to his two remaining children because he is afraid of that happening again. ~emily
