No one likes to be treated like they are unaware of things or lack intelligence so don't be bothered by that it you know your wiser let them say all they want, ignoring will show how stupid they are.

In my family, it's disrespectful not to greet your elders properly and by their native greetings. Like you can't just say "hi". For me though, I personally don't like it when the younger kids refer to me as ma'am or like any other greeting though.
