Our memory works through dendrites in the brain that have little bridges that attach them together called, synapses. Synapses weaken as we get older and new ones form every time we learn something new. After a while, synapses weaken and break, erasing older memories. Some memories may also be stored in our subconscious which is only active in a state of rest. Basically, it acts similarly to a computer. When files become old, we tend to erase them because the computer becomes crowded, same thing goes for synapses. The more we think of something, the stronger the synapses will be. ((That's all I got from the top of my head...))

brain synapses arent developed to function past movement, and vocal activity till an average of 3-4.5 years of age. like taking the hardrive out of a computer. though an easier idea to pictute it would be dorey from Finding nemo. it has no storage

I can remember somewhat. Well, after I see a picture though. I really don't know. Maybe it was because we were too young to remember.

Yeah I remember something about being born; it was all blue-ish because my eyes were closed, obviously. When I was younger, I thought of it looking like a portal with broken tv sets and monkeys. Stupid little me.

All the responses regarding brain development are on target, plus there is also the trauma of the event. It's not fun for the mother-I can attest to that-so I can't imagine that it's any better for the baby.

Well, I smacked my head on the ground pretty hard, which I don't remember but of course my dad does. He thinks that's why I can't remember anything before the age of 5. I don't really have a scientific explanation as to why we all can't remember being born. I guess it's what everyone else is saying.

Because our brains are not developed into long term memory until we are older.

The youngest memory I have was my birthday cake from when I turned 2 years old.

Well I don't know much about this to go into to much detail but our memory has shirt term and long term memories that we can only really start picking up things when we are four really. Only then we really remember significant events in our lives. You may think being born is one but our brains have only just been brought to life really. In your mothers stomach none of your brain is needed so therefore you need to learn how to use your brain to its full potential and that is most likely why we don't remember
