If heat rises, then why is it colder in the sky?

Because the warm air rises and expands-which makes it cooler. It also losses its ability to hold heat.

I'm pretty sure it's colder in the sky because the cold from space comes down and cools off the heated air. Either that or because the atmosphere cannot contain heat and allows some of it out... That or possibly because the heat expands everywhere and you can't feel it anymore... That's my best guess.
