The showrunner is sad to see the Liars\' teenage chapter come to a close, but she\'s ready to go on a "dark ride"

when the series time-jumps five years into the future for the second half of season six. "The Liars were a big part of that [flash-forward] decision because those incredible actresses really have outgrown the teenage years," she explained. "Time was moving very slowly in Rosewood and we were ready to speed it up."

I was just out of school, terrified and to be honest completely confused as to why I was suddenly in Canada. I had just turned 24. Spencer was 14. And today we shot our first scene where spencer is 24. Guess we all gotta grow up sometimes. #stillscared #stillhavenoideawhatdoing

The girls are graduating in episode 6.10 at age 18. Since Spencer is now 24, the time jump must be 6 years instead of the previously reported 4 year time jump.
