Note: I did not use the exact dialogue used in the game. I wanted to make it more original. Also, I know you come back after all this happens, but that would make this whole fan fiction kind of cheesy. So, I’m leaving it at this. Also, I am all for the couple of your partner and your character (only if they're a boy and a girl though) (Don't worry, I'm not homophobic AT ALL, I support gay rights, but it just doesn't work for this game.), so I tried to incorporate that into this as well. :3
The reason why I wrote this was because the ending of PMD always makes me cry, no matter what.
(And yes, I used my own characters. And yes, I did name my character Tawny. XDDDDDD)




Dialga fell down, roaring, as I struck him with the final move I would ever use—Giga Drain. My eyes widened. Did… did I really do it?
Riolu cautiously walked up from behind me. I had blocked him as soon as he started looking like he could faint at any moment.
“You did it, Tawny.” My partner grinned and hugged me.
“I… I guess I did,” I replied, smiling.
The truth was that forming that smile hurt. I knew that we were in our last minutes together, and all I wanted to do was continue adventuring with Riolu and training at the guild.
Grovyle’s last words echoed in my mind. You two are the best of combinations. Thinking of him made my heart ache even more. He would fade away, too…
Just then, a tremor hit the ground. Riolu jumped. “Gah! We should hurry and put the Time Gears in their hollows.”
I nodded, and we made our way carefully past Dialga and up the stairs with the odd circular pattern with the five hollows. Riolu took a deep breath and went to work, shoving each Time Gear in.
Another tremor began as the Time Gears let out a huge glow.
I fell down the stairs, blinded, as Dialga moved.
I spun around and watched, terrified, as Dialga got to his feet and roared.
Riolu then tumbled down the stairs and stood at my side, but Dialga just studied us.
“YOU’RE THE EXPLORERS WHO BROUGHT PEACE TO THE WORLD?” Dialga bellowed.
Riolu shrank back. “Um… yes…”
“THEN I THANK YOU. LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT YOUR HEROIC ACTIONS HAVE DONE.”
I then saw Treeshroud Forest with its leaves twirling in the wind—wait a minute, the wind? When I had gone there with Riolu and Grovyle, the leaves had been frozen in time.
This means that we truly did do it…
I sighed. I knew I should be happy that we had saved the world, but the knowledge that my time with Riolu was almost over really made it depressing.
Dialga dipped his head to us. “THANK YOU IMMENSLY. YOU HAVE SAVED THIS WORLD FROM PARALYSIS.” He looked at me, and for a moment I thought I saw sadness in his crystal gaze. “TURTWIG—“
    “Her name is Tawny,” objected Riolu. He didn’t know we were about to be separated forever, so his eyes were shining with triumph and nothing else.
“FINE. TAWNY, YOU HAVE MADE A GREAT SACRIFICE.”
And with that, the giant legendary Pokémon disappeared in a flash of light.
I swallowed. Riolu looked puzzled. “What does he mean by sacrifice?”
“I’ll…. I’ll tell you later.”
I couldn’t bring myself to waste out last minutes telling him the full story. I’ll tell him as soon as I start to disappear, I told myself. But the problem was that I might vanish suddenly, without warning and any time to explain.
I pushed that thought out of my mind.
“C’mon.” I touched Riolu’s shoulder and led him through Temporal Tower again.

As we walked outside, I felt my feet get heavier with every step. This must mean I’m about to disappear.
Riolu must’ve noticed, because he slowed. “Are you okay?” he asked, concerned.
Before I could answer, another tremor shook the ground. “Gah!” Riolu jumped. “The world must still be adjusting to going back to normal. We should hurry and get to the guild!”
His smile was so genuine that I had to force one.
We were almost to the Rainbow Stoneship when a force glued my feet to the ground. A light began spiraling around my body.
I gasped. It was happening so soon…
“Tawny? You okay?”
I looked at my partner, who I had become very fond of over the months we had been together.
“Riolu, thank you so much. My time with you was the best of my life.”
I swallowed, biding my time. Riolu looked horrified.
“This is why you were acting so strangely…! You have to leave? But why?”
I managed to reach out a foot and touch my partner’s cheek. “Dusknoir told me. When we changed the future, all creatures of the future will disappear.”
“That means… Celebi? Grovyle? Dusknoir? Primal Dialga? All of them will vanish?”
I tried to smile. “And me.”
There was a brief silence. Then Riolu threw himself on me. “No! You can’t leave.
“Tawny, you made me brave. Remember when Team Skull stole my Relic Fragment? Waterfall Cave? Fogbound Lake? All of those times and more, you made me stand up to my fears and look them square in the face. And…”
My partner gulped. I saw the fear on his face.
“I love you,” he whispered.
I stared at him. Even though I couldn’t remember much about being a human, I knew that no one had ever said anything like that to me before.
“I… I love you too.”
Only after I said it did I realize it was true.
“Oh, Tawny…” Riolu began to sob. “You can’t leave. It’s bad enough we lost Grovyle, but I can’t handle not having you.” He hugged me closer.
I felt the darkness coming in to claim me. More lights had been flying around me.
“I have to go now,” I whispered.
Riolu’s tears soaked my face. “But…”
I kissed him before he could finish. I felt my eyes begin to flow with tears, but I held them back for the sake of Riolu.
Then I closed my eyes and let the lights carry me into a world of darkness.









The last thing I remember is Riolu screaming “TAWNY!”, followed by massive sobs.
