March Madness
By
Jeremy Gould
31 Days will come and go
Through each I'll remember
a past life
of everlasting strife
Each day I'll dismember
a little bit more of my soul
4 Weeks, one lasting memory
will arrive to do its worst
to tie me down
I'll lose more ground
my heart will nearly burst
my mind will agree
1 month will rear its ugly head
I'll return to solitary confinement
a prisoner in hell
it's just as well
'cause if I would break my last commandment
then I'd be better off dead
We're down to the final 4
the grief, the pain, the mourning, the sadness
which shall win this brutal war?
Welcome to my March Madness

Welcome to my March Madness
The years have passed
The moments flown by
Yet I still find myself here
starting to cry
The grass neatly trimmed
and the tombstone shines
Flowers' scents intoxicating
mixed with that of the pines
Dirt and mud disappeared
from your resting place
Finally I may kiss the ground
without having a mess of my face
There are other survivors
traveling this lonely road
Trying to move on
is as painful as letting go
My heart goes out to those
missing someone right now
Sometimes it's too hard living
When we forget how
But we share this common bond
Me and you
We keep catching and releasing
Not taking the same chances we used to
Different are the circumstances
but the results remain the same
Death showed a higher hand
and won the biggest pot in the game
But we must share with each other
We must not sink below the sorrow or the guilt
We must not reach ground zero
Else our lives won't be rebuilt
The moments flown by
Yet I still find myself here
starting to cry
The grass neatly trimmed
and the tombstone shines
Flowers' scents intoxicating

I awake
Morning sunshine across my face
I reach up to rub the sand from my eyes
Not real sand, oh no, oh no
Sand from the sandman
I remember last night when he came
Came dancing, dancing, around, and around
Tossing his magic sleep-sand into those which see
Eye’s become dry
Eyelids droop to moisten themselves
It is useless
They must close
Now I sit awake
Rubbing the sand from my eyes
Not real sand, oh no, oh no
Sand from the sandman
He will come again tonight
Come dancing, dancing, around, and around
Tossing magic sleep-sand into those which see
Eyes will become dry
Eyelids will droop to moisten themselves
It is useless
They must close

MUSIC
by: Charles Baudelaire
MUSIC doth uplift me like a sea
Towards my planet pale,
Then through dark fogs or heaven's infinity
I lift my wandering sail.
With breast advanced, drinking the winds that flee,
And through the cordage wail,
I mount the hurrying waves night hides from me
Beneath her sombre veil.
I feel the tremblings of all passions known
To ships before the breeze;
Cradled by gentle winds, or tempest-blown
I pass the abysmal seas
That are, when calm, the mirror level and fair
Of my despair!
