It was soon Christmas Day. John and Caryn woke up, and they immediately went to the living room. John said, "Caryn, I wanted this Christmas to be extra special for you. I know it didn't exactly go as planned, but it's still special in its own way. I hope you like this present I got you." Caryn opened her present. It was a painting of her dog, Georgia, and John's dog, Thunder. She said, "Oh, John, it's beautiful!" He asked, "Do you like it?" She said, "Oh, I love it! Where did you get it?" He said, "Allen has a cousin who does paintings of pets, so he helped me get in touch with her." Caryn smiled and said, "I'm going to hang this on the wall above the fireplace." She hung it on the wall and asked, "What do you think?" John smiled and said, "It looks great." Caryn then brought John his present and said, "I'm sure you're going to love this one." When he opened his present, John became speechless. He said, "It's a guitar just like the first one Uncle Bob got me for my birthday one year, the one I lost in a fire. How did you get this?" Caryn smiled and said, "I had a little help from some friends." John then saw a card next to the guitar. He read it out loud. "John, Caryn told me how much the first guitar your uncle got you meant to you, so she asked me to make you one. She Googled a picture of you with that guitar so that I could make an exact replica. It was the least I could do for the both of you after all the times you've helped me. This comes with love from your friend, Paul Hatch." John said, "Wait a minute! Where did Paul learn to make guitars?" Caryn said, "He has a cool cousin too." John said, "I'm touched. I really am." After a quick breakfast, the two started getting ready to head out to Peter's house for Christmas dinner. When Peter saw John's leg, he said, "Bloody hell! What happened to your leg, mate?" John said, "I fell off the roof." Peter said, "Oh, no! Are you all right?" John said, "I'm fine. My leg is only bruised. I'll be able to walk on it soon." After a lovely dinner, John said, "Thanks for a nice Christmas dinner, Peter." Peter said, "It was me pleasure, mate." Caryn said, "We really can't thank you enough." He said, "It was not a problem, Caryn. Besides, I did appreciate the company." John said, "Well, I always say that no one should be alone on Christmas." Peter said, "You always do say that. Well, Merry Christmas!" John and Caryn simultaneously said, "Merry Christmas!" They then headed back to Caryn's house. John said, "This is the best Christmas I've had in a long time." Caryn smiled and said, "Same for me, John. Same for me!"
