Back at Caryn's house, John rested his leg while Caryn fixed dinner. She said, "I'm fixing up something special just for you." He said, "I can't wait." Once she was finished, he came to the table. He said, "Oh, you fixed tuna melts! Thank you so much, Caryn!" She said, "You're welcome, John!" After dinner, Caryn said, "You look tired, John. I think you've earned some rest." He said, "I am tired." She helped him get ready for bed. She said, "You can sleep in my bed, John." He said, "Caryn, I don't want to take your bed. I'll sleep on the couch." She said, "I think you'll get better rest in the bed. I'm not taking 'no' for an answer!" He said, "Okay, if you insist." John was so exhausted that he fell asleep before his head hit the pillow. Caryn gently covered him with the sheets and whispered, "Good night, John." She then went to sleep on her couch. The next morning, Georgia and Thunder woke her up. She let them out to do their business. She then started decorating. She decided to use the beautiful Christmas lights John got her for her Christmas tree. Once she finished, she said to herself, "Won't John be surprised?" She then went into the bedroom. John was still sleeping. She gently shook him and said, "John, wake up." He slowly woke up. He put on his glasses and said, "Good morning, Caryn." She said, "Morning, John! I've got a surprise for you." He slowly got up, using his crutches for support, and followed Caryn to the living room. He saw all the decorations. He then noticed the Christmas tree. He said, "You used the lights I got you for your Christmas tree!" Caryn smiled. She said, "I did. I decided that it was better than having someone else fall off the roof and get hurt." John said, "I wanted to make this Christmas extra special for you, but you ended up making it extra special for me." Caryn said, "You still made it extra special for me. You're here, and you cared enough to try to make it extra special." This made John smile. Caryn asked, "Are you ready for breakfast?" He said, "I sure am!" She said, "I hope you like pancakes and bacon." He said, "I love them!" Caryn fixed pancakes and bacon, and the two enjoyed their Christmas Eve breakfast.
