Caryn rushed to John's side. He didn't stir as she neared him. She knelt down beside him, firmly tapped him, and shouted, "John! Wake up!" He groaned in response. He then opened his eyes and saw Caryn. She asked, "Are you okay?" He groaned again. She said, "Come on, John. Talk to me." He faintly murmured, "I hurt." She asked, "Where does it hurt?" He said, "My leg." He slowly got up, but he was unable to walk on his right leg. Caryn said, "I think we should go to the hospital." She helped John up and allowed him to lean on her for support. They then headed to the hospital. John immediately got a room. The doctor came in and said, "I can't believe it. I'm treating John Wilde from The Devil Wants Peace!" John asked, "Well, who did you think it was?" The doctor smiled and said, "I figured there was more than one John Wilde." John laughed. He was never hurt too badly to laugh. The doctor then said, "I understand that you fell off the roof while putting Christmas lights on for your girlfriend." John said, "Yes, sir." The doctor said, "She's a lucky lady." John said, "I don't think so. I let her down." The doctor said, "She seems more worried about you than her Christmas lights. Anyway, we'll get an x-ray to make sure your leg isn't broken." After John had his x-ray, he joked around with the nurse. She said, "I'm glad to know you're able to joke and laugh, despite being hurt." He said, "I can't change what happened, so I might as well keep my humor." An hour later, the doctor came back in and said, "Well, there aren't any broken bones, but I can see you have significant bruising on your leg. You need to rest it as much as possible the next few days." John said, "Thank you, doctor. By the way, would you like an autograph?" The doctor said, "Sure." John gave the doctor his autograph, and he soon got his discharge papers. John returned to the waiting room on crutches. Caryn was anxiously waiting for him. She asked, "Is your leg broken?" He said, "No. It's just badly bruised." She said, "Thank goodness." They headed back to Caryn's house. On the way there, John said, "I'm sorry about your Christmas lights." Caryn said, "It's okay, John. I'm just glad you're all right."
