Muse's Matt Bellamy Promises to 'Get Heavy' on New Album

Frontman says '2nd Law' follow-up should see release by next summer

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy teased the band\'s in-the-works new album during a brief, impromptu Twitter Q&A last week, offering this encouraging nugget of information to fans: "It\'s gonna get heavy."

While details were scarce, Bellamy said that the writing and recording process was "going well," and added, "We hope to have it ready for next summer." The band began working on the follow up to 2012\'s

after their headlining appearance at this year\'s Coachella.

Bellamy\'s promise that things would "get heavy" on the new LP is in line with the back-to-basics approach he described to

last December. "I have this strong feeling that the next album should be something that really does strip away the additional things that we\'ve experimented with on the last two albums, which is electronics, symphonics and orchestral work and all that kind of stuff. It will be nice to reconnect and remind ourselves of just the basics of who we are."

On Twitter, Bellamy also hinted at something special for Muse superfans, posting a photo of longtime video director Tom Kirk archiving 15 years of footage at drummer Dominic Howard\'s house and promising, "YouTube will be inundated soon!" Bellamy added, "All sorts of tape labels \'Dom in hospital/guitar hit him/bologna 2004\', \'Torquay concert 2000\' & my favourite: \'girl pukes on bus in Turkey.\'"

Muse have had a relatively quiet 2014 following two years on the road behind

Berkeley, California rappers the Pack made their footwear choice clear in 2006 with the song "Vans." The track caught the attention of Too $hort, who signed them to his imprint. MTV refused to play the video for the song, though, claiming it was essentially a commercial for the product. Rapper Lil' B disagreed. "I didn’t know nobody [at] Vans," he said. "I was just a rapper who wore Vans." Even without MTV's support, Lil' B recognized the impact of the track.
