I picked Morgana not because she is stronger than Merlin (the strongest warlock is Merlin and the second one is Morgana) but I'm sure that Merlin isn't able to kill her.....he just can't. Remember 3x02 when he to went to make up her mind to stop the atack or at "The Crystal Cave" when he saves her.

I think Merlin would just knock her out not kill her or hurt her badly.

Do you honestly believe there is any competition at all? She is no match for Merlin. That is why they need a new villain.

Merlin's powers have grow and he has had time to have full control over them, where as Morgana has only just come to terms with her powers, and like she said(!); her magic is still weak.

I know Merlin is more powerful but I think he'd hold back... idk! Hopefully they will actually have a fight eventually... I mean like a real fight. Not a, pick-up-a-sword-against-a-woman-who's-trai­ned­-al­l-h­er-­lif­e-a­nd-­the­n-d­rop­-a-­roo­f-o­n-h­er-­hea­d type of fight. :P

If it comes down to protecting Arthur I think Merlin will be able to defeat Morgana which ever way possible. I think he would even be able to kill her. He was willing to let her die when he poisoned her. He held back in the beginning of season 3 because he thought that there was still hope for change. Then he saved her in 3x05 because his friends were suffering. Now that he knows what she is capable of. He will give it all he has got. And probably only luck will save her.

I do agree that Merlin would win and he would actually kill her if she tried to kill Arthur or Gaius or anyone he cares about. Remember how he killed Nimueh? I don't think he would hesitate. Like a guardian angel, he protects the ones he loves.

But you've only said a fight, not specified if it's swords or magic. Obvious the sword round would go to Morgana but the magic round is obviously Merlin. If they could use both, Merlin would still win.

Merlin is very experienced and familiar with his magical powers but there are limits, excluding his dragonlord abilities. Whereas Morgana is inexperienced and unfamiliar with her own powers. In a single combat where speed is expedient Merlin would win. However Morgana's powers when she is angry is pure raw energy that could destroy a building S03e13 and also she just need to look and the room was on fire s02e11 and what's more with only a minimal use of her magic she could kill the soldiers who came to arrest her s04e01. Basically Morgana is endowed with a lot more power than Merlin but doesn't yet control it and she's unaware of her own limits.
