However, star Ellis has admitted that they were left blindsided by the network\'s announcement, especially as they hadn\'t finished season three with the expectation it would be the last.

"The thing that none of us expected was the cancellation, so when we were filming we were like, \'Oh, they\'re gonna love this, I wonder what\'s going to happen next season,\' he said at MCM Comic Con of filming the season three finale twist.

"It\'s a weird thing where it\'s been a long time coming in that moment, and it wasn\'t planned as the final moment of

"I remember reading that for the first time, and the hairs on my arms just went crazy. We\'d been waiting for that, and I am very keen on telling the story of what\'s next."

Ellis also teased the upcoming two bonus episodes that are due to air next week – which were originally intended to air as part of a fourth season.

"We filmed two extra episodes that were going to be shown as part of season four, because they\'re like, standalone episodes," he continued.
