I wasn't going to watch the second movie in The Hobbit trilogy, but it's got some people from Lord of the Rings in it, so now I am going to watch it when it comes out.

Well, I think it's obvious throughout the story that the power of the Ring could only lead to something destructive. It betrayed all its owners apart from Sauron of course. The ones who desired it were the ones who were too weak to avoid the seduction. That's why Aragorn and Sam are the ones who never desired it, because they were the strongest and most disciplined characters in there.over a year ago
Well, I don't really think Frodo wanted the ring either. He had to bear it throughout a long journey to Mordor, and it was starting to control him. I can't blame him. It wasn't really him when he said he would keep it.over a year ago

I watched the trailer for the hobbit 2. I saw Legolas but I couldn't tell if he was Orlando Bloom. Can anyone confirm who the actor of Legolas is in the hobbit 2.

Just saw all of the movies again - including the Hobbit - and I am amazed that I'd forgotten how much I loved them! Searching for my copies of the books for a long overdue re-read. :D

I saw in an interview that The Lord of the Rings movies could be beaten by the Hobbit ones. What do you think? I personally though that the new Hobbit movie was too animated.

Help! I need a Lord of the Rings expert...
I'm just really confused about some stuff... Like, are the part 1 2 and 3 movies of The Hobbit in one book? Has a Hobbit movie already been made or was this the first one? I started reading the Hobbit before LotR trilogy, should I have started reading LotR first? And I'm reading the books before I watch the movie (hence my lack of knowledge haha) and that's good right? Haha... Like I said, confused... :/

Well, there are going to be three movies for the Hobbit, yet the book itself is one. And I think you reading the Hobbit first gives you a sense of where everyone's going. It gives you a background check and gets you prepared for LOTR. Personally, I think the book before the movie was good, but the movie doesn't have a lot of scenes in the book. So it might come as a disappointment.over a year ago
I've started a tumblr account that's only about Tolkien, Middle-earth, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit etc, if you're interested, please check it out! :) link

But Frodo had been in possession of the Ring for over 17 years, Sam bore it for less than a day...that doesn't make him incorruptible. I personally prefer Frodo (well, Frodo from the books, I didn't like the way he was portrayed in the movies). Yes, Sam's funny and näive, with plenty of common sense, but Frodo is more interesting: tortured and wise and merciful.over a year ago
I like Sam, but I personally prefer Frodo. Though Sam is a pure hearted hobbit, I think Frodo is a generous and self-sacrificing character and kind-hearted all the way. But I find him more interesting as he is a tortured soul and needs to fight the darkness surrounding him because the ring is in his possession. I don't think Sam is better than Frodo, both are similar but at the same time different because their journey to Mordor was way different. Frodo was the ring-bearer, Sam wasn't and that's a huge difference to me.over a year ago
Also you've got to compare The Hobbit book to The Hobbit movie. I think i'd definitely rather reread the book (again) than rewatch the movie. Still epic, though. :)over a year ago
September 25 is Legolas day. I celebrated it like an insane fan. Try quoting him all day long. No one will understand why you are talking old fashioned. Or try to learn sindarin or quenyen.

Hehe every hobbit is the best in their own way! Sam for his loyalty, frodo for his bravery, and merry and pipin for their friendship with everyone in the fellowship! :)over a year ago
Out of doubt, out of dark to the day’s rising
I came singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
To hope’s end I rode and to heart’s breaking:
Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red nightfall!

I love Tolkien's poems, in fact I have even memorised a few of them, such as the Song of Durin, The Walking Song, "I sit beside the fire and think", and most of Frodo's song in the Prancing Ponyover a year ago
If I had a time machine, I would go back in time to the filming and demand Orlanda Bloom change the way he said "They are taking the hobbit's to Isengard" ...... the song.... will..... not......get......out....of.....my......HEAD!over a year ago
I spent the whole freaking day yesterday & most of this day watching "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy". I didn't go out of the room & I had nothing except for the laptop playing the film + a jar of Nutella + a glass of water & nothing more (I even had to request... or demand, rather, someone to get get my breakfast/lunch/dinner for me). 've been fascinated with the trilogy for the past few days so I decided to re-watch it all again considering when I watched it in the cinemas,

I really didn't understand anything except for the idea that they were all fussing about this damn ring since I was still a little runt back then (I'm actually grieving for the fact that the trilogy's been around for so long & I only understood + got into it now). Watching TLOTR is like watching Warcraft in a movie; it was really mind-blowing & everything about the trilogy amazes you especially if you're into adventure, fantasy, & hardcore wars. I also love the fact that despite the quite serious scenario, the film is dashed with a bit of humor. All I can now say is TLOTR deserved all of its Academy Awards & success. *applauds*over a year ago
