"Upon his return to court, Henry explained that he had refused to see Mary on account of her obstinacy, which 'came from her Spanish Blood'. But when the French Ambassador mentioned how 'very well brought up' she was, 'the tears came into his [Henry's] eyes and he could not refrain from praising her'.

As his first surviving legitimate child, he called her “his pearl of the world”, carrying her in his arms and showing her off to courtiers (Henry VIII 500 facts)
Oh broken angel
Were you sad when he crushed all your dreams?
Oh broken angel
Inside you're dying 'cause you can't believe
He would leave you alone
And leave you so cold
When you were his daughter
But the blood in your veins
As you carry his name
Turns thinner than water
You're just a broken angel

My personal favourite song for Mary

And now you've grown up
With this notion that you were to blame
And you seem so strong sometimes
But I know that you still feel the same
As that little girl who shined like an angel
Even after his lazy heart put you through hell
Oh broken angel
Were you sad when he crushed all your dreams?
Oh broken angel

You showed him all the best of you
But I'm afraid your best
Wasn't good enough
And know he never wanted you
At least not the way
You wanted yourself to be loved
And you feel like you were a mistake
He's not worth all those tears that won't go away
I wish you could see that
Still you try to impress him
But he never will listen

But she will sing
'Till everything burns
While everyone screams
Burning their lies
Burning my dreams
All of this hate
And all of this pain
I'll burn it all down
As my anger reigns
'Till everything burns

She sits in her corner
Singing herself to sleep
Wrapped in all of the promises
That no one seems to keep
She no longer cries to herself,
No tears left to wash away .

I'm going to read "Bloody Mary" by Carolly Erickson: someone has read one of her biografies yet? I've just finished the Anne Boleyn's one and I found it great: Carolly writes very well :)

I just finished a biography about the real Mary Tudor. That poor woman suffered so much in her life and ended up being treated as the villain. According to the biography some things such as reintroducing certain coinage to England was started in her reign, and Elizabeth has been given full credit for it.
I think more research is needed on Mary Tudor!!
