Josh Hutcherson\'s role as Peeta Mellark in the "Hunger Games" franchise is by far his most well known to date, but the the 22-year-old star has actually been in Hollywood since the age of nine.

Here are six other things you didn\'t know about the talented "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" actor:

Before Andrew Garfield was selected to play Peter Parker in the "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, Hutcherson was in the running for the role. He wanted the role so badly, he created a funny video that featured him fighting a group of teenage goons as Peter Parker.

Hutcherson is an outspoken gay rights advocate. He works with a group calling itself "Straight But Not Narrow" to inform young straight men about the difficulties that gay people face in America. Hutcherson and the group hope their efforts will help elicit more empathy from straight men and make them more supportive of gay rights, according to IMDB.

3. He\'s starred alongside Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth

Hutcherson acted with Liam Hemsworth in all four "Hunger Games" movies. Also, he starred with Chris Hemsworth in "Red Dawn" in 2012.

Hutcherson was born in Union, Kentucky, which is about two hours away from his good friend Lawrence\'s birth place, Louisville, Kentucky.

Like many other actors, Hutcherson was homeschooled. He began acting at 9 years old, so a traditional schooling schedule wouldn\'t have been conducive to his career.

Hutcherson and Lawrence were play-fighting on the set of "The Hunger Games" when Lawrence landed a kick that accidentally caused Hutcherson to have a concussion. The actor recounted the incident in a 2012 episode of "Late Show with David Letterman," according to Page Six.
