JosepineJackson Question

Have you noticed Tom Cruise's eye color change in "Legend"?

I watched a movie "Legend" some time ago. It's really wonderful, reminds me of all those 80s fantasy movies I watched when I was little. But there is one thing I still wonder about. Like we know Tom Cruise naturally has green eyes, then why in most of the scenes in movie his eyes looked blue/light gray? I know that in the beginning of 80s (movie was made in 1985) colored contact lenses were invented so it's possible, but why? It might also look like that because of different lightenings but... In all scenes? Made a little picture for you to be able to compare. I know that the "Legend" pic is a bit dark, maybe I should have had to take some screenshots from movie. Other pic is from exactly the same time and you can see that his eyes are green. These days there is really a lot of Tom Cruise in my club. Anyway, this is really random question 😄 I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed it or it's just time for me to finally clean my monitor?

In Tom's case, he seems to have the type of green eyes that, under closer inspection, are actually blueish green with a yellow ring around the pupil (also known as central heterochromia).
Most green eyes are actually a mixture of blue and yellow, so under different lighting they appear to change. If a green eyed person wears a green shirt it will make the green pop and if they wear blue, the blue pigment stands out etc.
In Legend, a lot of the snowy forest scenes have a blue hue, which will bring out the blue in his eyes. So it's probably a case of his eyes have more than one colour within them that stand out depending on the backdrop and lighting.

The same thing happens in the Movie edge of tomorrow. Its the light. People think I have hazel or green eyes. I actually have true blue green eyes - rare! Frustrates me to no end when people complement my eye color and then call it the wrong ones.
